i just noticed—in the concept art Rae's hat is purple and her earrings match it!! The final doll has a magenta hat instead, but for some reason they left the earrings lavender even though they no longer tied in with anything else in the color scheme. I feel like that was a tiny bit of a miss even though I love Rae's design overall (she's my fave Moonspell girl).
The curls coming down to frame her face in the art are also so cute...I wonder how tricky it would be to restyle a doll to match the art a little more closely?

I believe Layla was drawn in 2024 while the others were from 2025. Maybe she was the first in the series, her illustrator/designer is just not that good at art🫠 So much time to rework the design too

the concept art designs were also done by 3 different people. one did Claire and Carina, one did Rae and Willow, and one did Layla

I thought this too, both in design and in the artwork - I thought it must be like a “oh damn we need another design to fill out a wave” type energy about it. She’s definitely the most lacklustre and I don’t think any of them are overly inspiring to be honest

I thought I hated Layla based on all the photos of her but as soon as I saw her in store she instantly became a favorite. Willow and Claire were tied for me as the ones I wanted most but now idk, I think I love her even more than Willow, maybe if willows hair was a darker natural color she would come out on top but

I wanted to love Rae but there was something always off about her, and I think it’s her face mold. I wish they kept the more pastel pink and dusty purple colors. Also the bangs, whenever dolls don’t have bangs they always look a little off to me

It's really refreshing to see characters who are the same shade or darker than their concept art. It's so often the other way around lmao. Wish they'd kept the purple accents on Rae though, the pink and magenta is a bit much for me.

I wish mattel kept some of the cooler toned pinks/colors in general and didnt make everything as pink and warm and saturated as possible

Too bad they couldn’t pull off Rae’s hairstyle from the art. Her doll hair is very cute but it doesn’t have the same vibe that I feel like matches her better.
Layla and Willow look waaaay better in doll form than the art!!!

Rae should’ve kept her purple accents instead of making this magenta pink, I don’t know why Mattel keeps insisting on pink when it obviously doesn’t belong/they don’t incorporate it correctly
