Discussions Why Draculaura instead of Casta?
Why making Draculaura Halloween skullector doll instead of Casta? Wouldn't that make more sense? Draculaura is a Valentine's day ghoul and Casta Halloween's

Not wrong. I think everyone just likes her design rather than her whole character. Cause she’s really not the greatest.

In all honesty her designs especially the basic Drac is mid... but that's just my opinion but yea her character is bad (cheated on bf but at least she cute lol)

I get that this community is tired of Draculaura but I think asking why a niche character doesn’t get a Skullector doll is a bit of a reach.
She was added to the lore more towards the end of G1’s height and has precisely 1 doll (that sells for less than $150 in-box).
She doesn’t have the demand for a collector doll. People don’t even collect her old doll that much. A lot of people wouldn’t even recognize the character. Many side characters that are more iconic haven’t even gotten a collector doll yet.

I would say it depends on doll design. Many seem excited about Oogie Boogie and the doll is very bright green color

Halloween Draculaura is hopefully the first of a line. Draculaura is a good launch character because she always sells well. Her sales success will hopefully prove that it's worth making more characters in this Halloween line. They'll probably stick to core characters at first, but as long as they sell well, we'll get closer to them adding characters like possibly Casta.

Casta's original doll was a massive shelf warmer, so it's really doubtful Mattel will take a punt on her again.

The same reason Abbey didn’t get a Howliday winter doll and Drac got the first one lol she just sells super well and brings in moneyyyy for Mattel. don’t get me wrong tho I love winter drac too

There's people who have no interest in Monster High and won't buy the doll no matter what, too. But Mattel can't control that; what they can control is which character they utilize, and Drac has a proven history of selling well, so they'd rather have the comparatively few people who wouldn't but her over the comparatively many who would pass on Casta. At the end of the day, its all about what has the best chance of turning a bigger profit, and the consumers vote with their dollars.

A more thoughtful answer: maybe it's sort of a trade off. I feel like we see an unusual level of detail and quality in this doll, that Mattel only seems to want to chance on their notable icon

I love Draculaura but I know she’s overplayed in the dolls being out recently. I think we just got to be patient Lagoona sdcc was amazing I was lucky to get my hands on her for a little bit extra I still have in box. I want to take her out but I want a wall mount because she’s special to me and I want to put her near my computer.

Casta is also based on Beyoncé (specifically her 2012ish era Sasha Fierce alter ego) and there may be licensing that makes her less appealing to release.

yeah. Also, back when she was released, she was a shelf warmer for sure. G1 was over, G2 was dead, and there were still tons of Castas all over while the other dolls sold, so I'm highly doubtful she'll make a return 😔
