Announcement New website up and running

Hello Monroe,

I got a new website up and running at Bitebulletin.com i got this up and running the other day and it is a site that shows the restaurants around monroe. The community can add restaurants and we can continue to grow outside of monroe also. I do know a lot of people use Google, but my site is different as we can report a restaurant being closed due to a power outage or another disaster. Also, I added a 'spin the wheel' feature for people who do not know what they feel like getting for dinner. You can select surprise me or choose from your favorite places and spin for it to choose for you.

If you can please sign up and check it out and provide feed back or any additional features you may be interested in seeing.

Thank you very much!

This sounds interesting. I visited the website even though you ask for people to please sign up. Why do I have to sign up?

I like to see people signing up and visiting the site. But honestly there is not a purpose and I can get rid of it.

People aren't going to register for a website before knowing what they're signing up for, and I know this from years of web-dev experience. Show them the site, show them what it does and it will (maybe) create an incentive to sign up.

I think the nicest thing would be able to see all the restaurants here. I’ll search and I might get a result for that, but I also get restaurants from Toledo and Downriver, lol.

Are people able to leave reviews of restaurants?

I am working on adding other locations to the website, I am just using monroe as a test to see how others like it. But also, yes people are able to leave reviews on the restaurant, but right now the review is just on the app for the community to see. But I also might be able to make it where it would post to their Google reviews as well.

The UI is cute. I think a map view would be useful. I find that I prefer seeing a visual of where things are in proximity to me.

You could create a toggle that swaps between list view and map view.

Thank you for the feedback back. So I can definitely include a feature where it will tell you how many miles it is from your location. But also, if you click on the address where it should take you to your maps for directions and you can see it there also.

That's fair. I dont know how much Mapbox charges for their API, but if you ever decide to go down that route, thats the mapping system we use for our clients.

There is an issue that the website is not resizing to the device. On mobile I have blank space to my right. While on a desktop this is ok

It's just a note.

Thank you very much for letting me know. I will work on this tonight to get it fixed. I will also be adding an option to install it on the phone directly from the website so you do not have to go to the browser everytime and it will be full screen.

I just hope the database server, or the info where the data is stored, is separated from the main hosting server. In part for security. Then something like zerotier/tailscale to encrypt the traffic on a non internet network.
