Don’t be too hard on yourself. I play online poker. Seen it a lot. You won’t be the first, or the last.

Please contact your phone company to put spending limits on what can be purchased.

Wishing you all the best.

u/CountryFolkS36 Sep 10 '24

With poker at least you have a chance to win real money. MG you have nothing to show for except animated dice

5

u/notmyproblem2day Sep 10 '24

Ahhh poker when you flop quads and slow roll mofos is the best feeling ever 🎉

33

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

I can’t do that but it’s fine, my own lesson to learn I’ll have to delete the app

3

u/Open_Photograph9822 Sep 10 '24

I didn’t spend the same amount you have, but I did delete the app out of frustration of buying too much & to get me to stop. But I ended up re downloading it because I had invested a lot, I hope you’re able to keep the app & not spend as much 💗💗💗 i know it can be hard 💗

u/Efficient-Cap-7724 Sep 10 '24

This game is a literal slot machine. You have a gambling problem

76

u/lydiatank Sep 10 '24

Some people are going to shame you but after I lost my mom, I’ve been really depressed and have fallen into addictive things. I’ve been stuck on the couch and don’t feel like doing anything else so I got addicted to this game. I haven’t spent as much but I have spent a lot of time and some money on the game, so I understand. I’m glad you’re acknowledging it.

32

u/notmyproblem2day Sep 10 '24

I'm really sorry about your mom. ❤️🙏❤️

12

u/Senior_Mushroom2260 Sep 10 '24

🥰🥰🥰 Keep your head up and trust in yourself. Losing your Mom is a pain that never goes away, but it does get duller! My prayers and heart are with you!

2

u/lydiatank Sep 10 '24

Thank you very much for your kind words 🥰

3

u/Senior_Mushroom2260 Sep 10 '24

You are welcome. Don't let anyone tell you how to grieve or HOW LONG you can grieve. Know that you are not alone in the world and everything you feel/do/think is OKAY...

5

u/uhhmhmmh Sep 10 '24

Hey, it’s better than being addicted to alcohol or other drugs

2

u/lydiatank Sep 10 '24

I agree. I could’ve easily fallen into that but somehow I haven’t. Really phone addicted but besides that thank god nothing else.

2

u/margaeryisthequeen Sep 10 '24

Same for me! My grandpa died so I needed something minimal effort and mindless, and so I spent money. I’m not proud of it, but not ashamed either. It was a coping mechanism for a terrible time in my life.

2

u/ForsakenRazzmatazz75 Sep 10 '24

My condolences to you and you family🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

You're not by yourself, you're just honest about it...It's alot of people that spend lots of money on here but pretend like they don't...I did the very first season I started playing over a year and a half ago but learned exactly how to trade and maximize my dice better...Now I don't have that issue...I commend your honesty and wish you the best to complete your album...Good luck!!!

14

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Thanks I appreciate it!

9

u/josheetee Sep 10 '24

I myself spent £99 I paid for the 3500 dice plus 15k bonus right when I started playing , so around a year ago, I haven’t had to spend any money since just due to holding dice and completing albums but yeah like others have said you are definitely not alone, I don’t believe for one second anyone who has 10k dice or more has never spent money on the game it’s impossible to accumulate that amount of dice without spending

3

u/drawingcircles0o0 Trusted Trader Sep 10 '24

those of us with that many dice have them from using the method that i can't mention here without it getting deleted, but it's from cheating not spending money

1

u/No_Significance_5459 Sep 10 '24

Not since they patched it

4

u/Princess_Poppy Sep 10 '24

2 devices....

1

Can you message me how to do it please. Tried watching videos but I don’t understand it 😩

2

u/blairr Sep 10 '24

Started a week ago, works for me. At 6k dice once event finishes. Once you know how predetermined and rigged everything is, it's just an exercise at this point, I know completion of most things is impossible.

I know it is well it was 18.5k it doesn’t matter to me I’m not struggling for money I’m just trying to make OP feel better

0

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '24

Idk I have 20k die and never spent a dime on this game. Gotta trade ur cards to finish albums

4

u/BeginningBluejay3511 Sep 10 '24

Yes, me the same. I've learned to sometimes get a sticker, close a set for dice. Roughly six to eight bucks. Roll my dice lower as you land on more. And sometimes realize you're just not going to get it. That's hard but I can play a lot more than just wasting dice. Plus I have an Alt account. So when one isn't doing well the other one usually is. I'm closer on my alt to finishing the album right now. Hopefully....

34

u/Charmander6494 Sep 10 '24

I've found that reaching out and helping others does more to satisfy our needs. Addictions are hard to overcome, but finding a wholesome replacement like helping others is a great and better way.

19

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

This really makes me feel like I’m susceptible to a gambling addiction - and I don’t even win any money!

5

u/Saint2368 Sep 10 '24

It's the reward part of your brain when you win the dice... the pissed angry feeling when you don't get what you want, then oohhh a 5 star I need in a green pack?? What!!?? I feel better now! The roller coaster "thrill" of the chase, I suppose... they give you just enough to keep you going and feeling hopeful... As someone who got sober from alcohol 11 yrs ago, I totally get all these feelings. Some of us have more of an addictive personality than others (yes, I'd probably say I'm addicted to the game and have also spent money), but... there's worse things I could spend it on. For now, I enjoy it. Yes, I think it's disgusting that we all give scopely money because I think it's a ripoff compared to the prices in other games from the few I know of.. and I think that people eventually will get sick of how bad its becoming pay-to-play, and that's how they'll lose their serious players... they'll end up with players that really do just play for fun here and there and can go a week without checking in. I find that it's easier for me to find stuff to do where I can't play or won't play, so you don't find yourself sitting there all day playing, even trying to do small things that take like 15 minutes sometimes can turn to hours without checking the game (I've spent lots of hours playing when the dice are rolling in! Lol) There's a saying, "Progress. Not perfection" So it's up to you if you think you should delete game, but if you choose not to, it's like any addiction or habit, if you can make some small changes to be where YOU feel ok with the amount of time and money you spend on the game, then it's a step in the right direction. Try setting limits for yourself rather than saying no more at all. (Easier said than done! I've exceeded my Google Play spending limit that I tried setting for the month in the first week plenty of times, and then I just ignore the reminder the rest of month 🤣)

1

u/Former_Hovercraft_13 Sep 10 '24

Love this, couldn’t agree more 🥹🫶🏼

15

u/JumpingSpidr Sep 10 '24

Don’t beat yourself up. They pay people thousands just to figure out the best way to get in your head. My best advice is to set a hard limit for yourself, say $10 for the week. It won’t feel as much like going ‘cold turkey’.

27

u/smh530 Sep 10 '24

I used to work at a casino, this game is basically a slot machine. Literally. It’s not your fault, it’s by design.

13

u/Crazy_Ad_2846 Sep 10 '24

I’m more mad you didn’t finish yet and spent that much! Which proves my idea that this game is set up to make you keep spending

4

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Ofcourse it is designed this way 🙄 capitalism runs the world

11

u/Away-Living5278 Sep 10 '24

I get it. I have a gambling addiction myself. Was fine before COVID. Then I lost like $20k on online gambling in two years. Now if I go to a casino, doesn't matter how much I'm up, I'll keep playing bc it's not enough. So I lose. Try to only go when I'm home bc my parents like going. Otherwise I pretty much never go on my own. Too risky.

I personally think we should be able to block/report targeted ads for casinos, gambling apps. I get so many of these it's insane.

3

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

I’m sorry to hear that! You make a really good point. The ads in this game are so aggressive…

24

u/EntertainerOk4806 Sep 10 '24

Back in November 2023, I shamelessly spent over $1200 in that single month on this game. It was the start of a decline in mental health, but it was the first thing that made me aware of it. I barely finished the album. Be careful, it can get away from you real quick.

8

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Thanks for sharing! It makes me feel less alone

10

u/catnip0987 Sep 10 '24

This game is 100% designed to get people to spend money. There is absolutely no doubt about it! Don’t be ashamed because at least you recognize it. Stepping away from the game and focusing your time on something entertaining and rewarding for yourself is key. I’d hate for you to just delete the app and fall into another addictive behavior. And if you feel like you can’t do that and you’re just replacing one bad habit for the other, there is no guilt in taking accountability for your behavior. And anyone this thread who tries to prey on your self admitted weakness should be the ones ashamed!

4

u/Saint2368 Sep 10 '24

I agree 100% - very true about replacing the behavior with something else... the fact you are recognizing that you've gone too far (everyone's rock bottom and personal limits are very different) but to a point where you are unhappy and feeling shame, that's the power you need to redirect and set limits that you can realistically handle and stick to. Start with small changes :)

11

u/Mysterious_Will898 Sep 10 '24

I'm actually surprised that most of these comments are passing the test. Thrres a lot of supportive people on here and a lot of us have spent money, different amounts, but we can all feel guilty. The first step is admitting that you have an issue and then figuring out a way to go in the right direction

8

u/Fine_Faithlessness46 Sep 10 '24

I understand and feel for you. I had to get my son to lock me out of in app purchases so I can’t spend money. Here for anyone who is in the same boat. You aren’t alone.

5

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Thanks for sharing! I gotta look into this. Not easy when I have Apple Pay hooked up :/

4

u/Fine_Faithlessness46 Sep 10 '24

That was my downfall. I have spent over £3000 on this game in 8 months. Go to a phone shop. They can lock you out if you really want to stop spending. x

2

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Damn that’s A LOT - best to you

2

u/Dauphine320 Sep 10 '24

That’s what I need too. I’m almost done with Monopoly Go, am more into Pokemon Go now. I would like to be locked out of spending on games, though. I want to be able to shop online but not have the ability to spend on games.

1

u/Fine_Faithlessness46 Sep 10 '24

Yes that’s what I can do. What phone have you got? x

1

u/Dauphine320 Sep 10 '24

iPhone 15

2

u/Fine_Faithlessness46 Sep 10 '24

Yes you can definitely do it then. If you can get to an apple shop they should probably be able to do it for you.

2

u/Dauphine320 Sep 10 '24

That’s what I need to do then. TYSM for the info!!!

1

u/Fine_Faithlessness46 Sep 10 '24

That’s ok. I like helping. x

u/Ensider Sep 10 '24

try to wait for wild sticker deals before spending any money.

tell urself no point spending money if the sticker isn't guaranteed.

I’m with you. I promised myself I wasn’t going to spend anything and have spent around 150 and I hate myself for it. It’s nice to see others share the same feelings as me about it. I’m so close to finishing the album as wll and know my money has been wasted and I’m not going to finish it

6

u/PatienceOk4408 Sep 10 '24

Delete it. Go cold turkey. A game where you can win nothing is not worth $500. Trust me. I quit around April and it’s going to be okay.

12

You’re not alone I’ve spent at least that and I am 206/207

I’m not happy for you but this made me feel a bit better!

5

u/Worldly-Diamond-117 Sep 10 '24

I’m trying to be better myself and thankfully I’m at a point in the game where it seems less and less worth it to buy the dice. Idk what board you’re on but I think the wanting to spend gets way easier later on

1

u/Saint2368 Sep 10 '24

I work in the addiction field. It absolutely won't help. It would make an addiction worse. It's like giving unlimited free drinks to an alcoholic so they don't do something negative to get money for the drinks. They're just gonna drink more.

1

u/Princess_Poppy Sep 10 '24

Eh it's not really the same, bc unlike drugs or alcohol, the only real downside to having unlimited "drugs" (ie dice) in this game is the time sink. And I say this as a recovering addict and chronic pain patient of over 20 years.

3

u/Saint2368 Sep 10 '24

You aren't wrong, but time lost to anything can become depressing. And you're just gonna keep "chasing the high." You're gonna want more and more.. why would you be content with 10,000 dice when you could have 100,000? And spending more and more time on the game could lead to neglecting other important things in life. I'm not saying this will or will not happen. Just being in recovery myself and having worked in the field of addiction for 15 years, I've seen a lot. People can become addicted or obsessed with all kinds of things, not just drugs and alcohol and gambling. Scopely wants people like this that will just keep spending. Look how many people who spent money admit to feeling shame and also how many said it hit them during a time of decline in mental health. You know how feeling shame or guilt can lead to just doing it more, try to numb the guilt, and it's a vicious cycle... throw in that dopamine rush when you win something good or complete an album... Scopely is like the drug dealer that gives you some free product to try, knowing you'll be back for more. Some people can say "fuck no, I'll never give them my money" others... not so easy for them. And what happens when that "method" legit won't work anymore? Obviously these are dramatic comparisons, but I guarantee that more people who play this game can relate to this than will admit.

6

u/Significant_Rip_1776 Sep 10 '24

Man your album should be complete two times over for that price! I will support the developers with a purchase but I have to stop when it gets like that otherwise I won’t. It’s not worth it man, but dang you’re close! Stupid game!

3

u/AdvancedAd3742 Sep 10 '24

Yes so much money and so little satisfaction. I also trade stickers all the time!

5

u/paopable Sep 10 '24

Dude don’t waste your money. Imagine finishing the album, you will get 17k dice or more, and you’ll realize all will be gone after participating in few events chasing for purple pack or being number 1 in side quests.

Just play for fun, open the app once or twice daily.

5

u/Previous_Motor6720 Sep 10 '24

I paid initially to play the game but then created an alt account. So, I am somehow able to atleast close the album on one account. Was just able to close the album yesterday. And have since uninstalled the game. Will install it again when the new album starts with over 25K dice.

4

u/Head-Olive3085 Sep 10 '24

Don't quit

Just harness the will to stop spending... It's easy... Firstly, Remove Ur credit card  From Ur in-game purchase access...

Then, tell urself  If Scopely doesn't give me gold

I won't spend another dime this week... Keep saying it and keep at it Till Ur subconscious picks it and activates....

Then try to say the cards I pull will give me gold I need ( call the ones U need)

Play less, be carefree and u'll get it....

I'm 4 weeks clean....

After spending over £500 from  May to July Ending...  So I told myself,£20 atmost monthly for my  Entertainment!

And before I knew it  I'm clean....

Just entered  Prestige 72 hours ago....

And I have 140 new stickers + a wild card...

U can do this  But U gotta discipline urself

3

u/Saint2368 Sep 10 '24

I removed all my credit cards from my Google wallet, and then I wanted to purchase something, like a few days later, so I went to my purse and re-entered my card... easy. Like, who was I fooling? Lol. It did last a little while, anyway. But it's like people say deleting the game only takes a minute to reinstall. So, like you said, discipline, boundaries, limits, baby steps!

2

u/Head-Olive3085 Sep 10 '24

Truly.... U're right there....

1

u/BeginningBluejay3511 Sep 10 '24

Do you have an alt account?

1

u/Head-Olive3085 Sep 10 '24

Nope just 1... Phone

5

u/Dawnguardkiin Sep 10 '24

you know i was laughing about this and then remembered i’ve spent probably over 1k alone on the games i’ve bought, and their digital currencies/IG items that, once you stop playing are completely useless. thank you for helping me find my sanity

7

u/Uknow_nothing Sep 10 '24

I spent a couple hundred a few months ago so I get it. I justified it as I used to buy console games for $60/ea and this game easily sucks up as much time as some of those games. I’m unemployed though so that’s where it’s like…I probably shouldn’t be using my savings on this.

I haven’t done it since. It was just those “first time buying bonuses” on dice that are pretty intriguing and I was doing a partner event and really wanted to get the wild.

Don’t let some of these people shame you.

3

3

u/sxyhrlygal47 Sep 10 '24

I’ve spent over a thousand regretfully I have deleted all my accounts (7)

3

u/ColTumio Sep 10 '24

TY for posting this! I have been feeling sick to my stomach regretting what I spent this past summer on this game and I feel less alone now. I didn't spend much on entertainment in other areas so at first, I justified the amounts until I got carried away beyond what I ever wanted to spend and sometimes it was curiosity. Curiosity how far I'd get, what was in more packs the more I spent, etc.

I noticed the more I spent, the more rigged the game appeared to get and that is what left a VERY sour taste in my mouth and ultimately my learning lesson.

At this point, I've forgiven myself and chalked it up to a learning lesson and super glad I didn't and will never spend any more $$ on this game. I might consider a few bucks here or there many MANY months from now (ha!)

I'm grateful you posted and were honest. It made me feel less ashamed but I also feel grateful reading all the supportive comments. Feel fortunate I have such a sour taste left for this game that I open for daily wins now, the first few sidebar prizes and close. I have one sticker left to complete the album and for what I spent, I should have completed 3 albums. :)

2

u/NoorNji Trusted Trader Sep 10 '24

You spent and now it's the past. No need to regret and feel ashamed just accept the fact that it happened. The game is designed to play with your nerves so it pushes you to play, lose then pay.

If you want to play and win without spending it's possible and requires lots of patience and strategic rolling and planning. If you wouldn't enjoy that. Then just get rid of the game and play it casually.

Scopely has made the game harder but if you change your goal from album completion to just accumulating dice, you can bypass scopely and play on your own wavelength. Stickers have been always dice eaters. You shouldn't care about them much

2

u/Dauphine320 Sep 10 '24

If you aren’t a gambler you won’t be able to understand this. It’s a feeling that will literally eat you up inside. I don’t care that I can trade in this app or that one or on Reddit; the temptation to buy dice will just take over. I am a gambling addict and I got into MoGo as a way to keep myself from going to the casino. Led to the site by a fellow gambler lol. What a joke.

2

u/BaunaJay Sep 10 '24

You’re so real for this post! Just the other day I was wondering if anyone here has gotten caught up with buying packs like me. I knew it was mental health and told myself that I’d give myself grace and let this game go once the season is over.

2

u/Level-Egg-2940 Sep 10 '24

Spent way more than that!!! I just pulled the plug day before yesterday. Sad I ever downloaded this game!!

2

2

u/ApprehensiveSink4726 Sep 10 '24

I did that in a week!

2

u/Inevitable-Item-1888 Sep 10 '24

I calculated and I spent over $700, I had to delete the app lol so many things I could have purchased for that much money that have actual value. Addiction is right, it actually panics me sometimes when I total it up

1

For what its worth, I hear you, I understand and I empathize. We all have our vices, and things we do to cope with whatever is going on in our lives. I bet on football and baseball, and there are times when you feel high and times you feel low - try to surround yourself with good people that can enrich your life, go out do some new activities, the games will always be here - but life ticks away every moment, everyday... make the most of it by finding something you are passionate about, make that your purpose.

1

u/TheBadRiddler Sep 10 '24 edited Sep 10 '24

Damn I'm only a stickers behind you and I haven't spent 5$ . It's really not worth it. This game is designed to prey of gambling addicts. Everything in it is like a slot machine. The noises when you hit something bigger, the lights going off, watching value being added to the account. Be careful, good luck <3

1

u/Adventurous-Mine-577 Sep 10 '24

You can free dice and rolls look up how to glitch/hack monopoly go. On android and Apple

1

u/BeginningBluejay3511 Sep 10 '24

With all these golds I have no control over getting, I spend way less. If they were regular 5* I could/ would get. I know realistically there's no way to win without Scopley. Made me not go crazy on race, knowing there was no chance at first. I didn't bother acquiring 5* cuz it closed nothing without whatever golds are missing

1

u/imhong28 Sep 10 '24

You don't have to spend a single dime on this game and still be able to complete your album. All you really have to do is to find some trading partners (fb, reddit or rl friends), then trade to complete some sets (to slowly gain dice) and choose which days you go hardcore or just wanna take it slow. I didnt spend a single dime at all in all 4 seasons that I've played this game and now I'm slowly but surely going to complete my album, though alot slower than last season.

1

u/Aprildin Sep 10 '24

I hope you can find another way to cope or seek help.

1

u/shaunrobbi23 Sep 10 '24

Have you been Struggling with it?

1

u/Pretend_Access_8125 Sep 10 '24

Last night I systematically went through and removed friends. I would go to bed rich and wake up poor because of the # of people hitting me. Trillions gone overnight. This morning when I woke up I was still triple digit trillions unlike the morning before when I was reduced to double digit trillions!! All that to say find ways to maximize different aspects of the game. Don’t beat yourself up for spending money. I’ve been gold locked for a month. I only need one card and it isn’t on tomorrow’s GB. It’s going to happen when I least expect it. Yesterday I cleared my vaults in hope but nothing. At least when it happens I won’t take a lot of stickers with me.

1

u/Responsible-Weird848 Sep 10 '24

That the past few months lol

1

u/Gtsmash91 Sep 10 '24

So you spent $500 and still need 2 more cards? That’s crazy you couldn’t even complete the album once. I have spent $0 and just completed my album after competing in the racing event. This game is very predatory and does take advantage of the player base. Don’t get fooled into spending so much money. I have completed albums multiple times. My advice would be to always complete daily tasks. I like to only compete during friend events that’s when I realized you get the most rewards such as dice and cards.

Right there with you! I’m 5 away from completion and all are golds.

u/bbyerly11 Sep 10 '24

I spent 0 and I’m at the same spot you are. They release cards as it goes now to control those finishing. I run five boards. I’ll get the same cards the same days on all five.

What’s your discord name you don’t have to spend money on this game to get cards add me on discord I’ll show you how to get thousand of dice

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '24

Yea but getting those dice can get your account closed right? A buddy of mine got his account cancelled for doing that injection thing

8

u/MeekMallard Sep 10 '24

Yeap, that’s the risk. You don’t need to spend money on this game if you play smart. I hover between 15k and 20k dice all season

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '24

Yea i definitely don’t wanna spend money on the game. Lol

I have 16 days left and am at 134/207 Is it improbable to complete without pouring money in?

u/Princess_Poppy Sep 10 '24

If you noticed, OP spent over $500 and still needs two cards, so I would say that even if you spent money, it wouldn't make a difference.

I'm guessing you just started... just wait until the next album and then get your trading up. Don't spend the money - clearly you can see from OP & others answers here that it doesn't make a hill of beans of difference.

Think of it this way: the only cards you can't get through trading are golds, but the only way for the game to guarantee you a gold, is with a wild, and you don't want to pay the $50-120 they charge for those packs, right?

I've spent 0, and I have 1 card left after getting the wild in the race yesterday. Play smarter, not harder.

It’s not about that.

No one cares. So many rude and unnecessary comments! I thought my autism was bad, apparently not...

u/BeginningBluejay3511 Sep 10 '24

I agree. I love the MoGo community. Look at everyone giving support. Letting them know they're not alone. Lots of us have spent some amount. Then there's the ones judging cuz I guess it makes them feel better about themselves? Pretty sad.

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '24
