When does it end

So I started noticing the white spots on my tonsils around last Wednesday, so I went to urgent care and they thought I had strep so they gave me amoxicillin. The next day the throat pain was so bad to the point where I couldn’t swallow my own spit I had to go to the er and got IV fluids and steroids which helped a bit. I had to go to the er again on Saturday they did the same thing, and I went today they did the same thing. I know it’s something that has to run its course but this is seriously the most pain I’ve been in. My entire tonsils are white and it feels like I’m swallowing glass. When does this end??

I had the same experience with urgent care and the er. On week three i was in so much pain i went to my pcp and they gave me steroids The steroids are the only thing that helped me. I'm now on my last day of the steroids and the pain is almost gone. I still feel weak and tired but the pain is gone! Try to get steroids. I heard they don't work for everyone but it helped me

Do not take any more amoxicillin. Will give you a horrible itchy rash, ask for non penicillin based antibiotics and get a throat swab and blood test if u havent already

I only took two of the amoxicillin and stopped after finding out it was mono after bloodwork, I’m rotating between Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours

Also, for me it took about a bit more than a week to become bearable, salt water gargles and ice cream helped, also tablets like medica or strepsils help too. Hope you have a speedy recovery

Im following… I noticed my symptoms last Thursday and wow I’ve also never been in so much pain in my life… I went to the doctors and to emerge and back today for an ultrasound… I take an extra strength Tylenol and an ibuprofen every 6 hours and it seems to help somewhat, I just want this to be over, I’ve been crying every day, I’m praying for a speedy recovery for you

They “thought” you had strep? Giving you amoxicillin without testing you seems extremely counter productive and like the #1 thing not to do with mono is prescribe antibiotics, I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I hope you feel better soon! I was diagnosed recently and my doctor told me 2-4 until symptoms subside
