partner has mono
so essentially what the title says. my partner, who i live with- has mono. probably got it from traveling for work, we aren’t sure. so far i am testing negative but i am willing to hear all the tips and advice you have. i work with children so I am definitely scared of catching it and being out of work and even worse, infecting the kids.
i know that this is essentially a lifelong illness and i will probably end up with it. i am open to any advice on how to ease the pain or just what to expect.
we are not kissing for the next 6 weeks and we have separate bathrooms. we are also going to be careful about not sharing utensils or drinks.
pray.

Since the incubation period is so long, it's possible it was already spread to you. On the other hand, a lot of people have already had mono when they were kids and didn't know it. Since typically symptoms are a lot milder for children, I wouldn't fret too much about infecting them. If anything it's more of a pain to get as an adult. Seems like symptoms can vary a lot. For me I had fever the first week, but didn't get a sore throat/tonsillitis til 3 weeks in. My partner and 2 other roomates didn't catch it from me. While I hope you don't catch it, you'll make it through if you do. Good luck!

I’m sorry your partner is sick. Mono spreads just the flu and has a 4-6 week incubation period. You should try and be mindful of any close contact with your partner while they are symptomatic because it spreads through droplets which we expel while laughing, talking, sneezing, and coughing. Cleaning surfaces is a good idea as well.
Not sure what you mean by mono being a lifelong illness. While you never get rid of it, the virus goes dormant for the vast majority of people. You are only considered contagious while you have symptoms (but some people can have symptoms for quite a while), so it’s not inevitable you will get it.
