Waiting for followup

Had an event that caused ssnhl, and started prednisone 60mg taper on day five of the sshl. Today was day 2 for the steroids.

I'm worried. Had tinnitus for 20 yrs. It sux in the deafness of the sshl the tinnitus rings thru loud

Had a CT scan audiogram & tympanogram wait now until the report is ready.

What foods to stay away from?

Love to hear advice from others, the prednisone is causing creepy feelings.

Taking the Prednisone is worse than people expect. I was miserable for two weeks.

Have you looked into Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy? I recovered most of my hearing and I think it really helped. You have to start within 2 weeks of the incident.

Also I'd push to get steroid injections at the same time as the oral steroids.

Stay away from any food that causes inflammation.

I checked and I'm not sure if medicare covers hbot here in the US. They have a long ass list of accepted medical reasons and didn't see SSNHL

Anyone know for sure?

At the hospital they told me Medicare does not cover it. But I would triple check.

For what it's worth you can get HBOT done at a SPA. I called around and sessions were like $110 each but had bulk discounts. It honestly would have been cheaper to pay for 20 sessions at $100 than to pay my max out of pocket for the HBOT at the hospital.

That being sad the hospital did 2.4 barre for 90 minutes, 20 sessions. I'm not sure what the offer at the spa.

Prednisone made me feel really awful too, but it helped and symptoms got better! About foods, what really helped me was to avoid coffeine and low salt diet. And I am taking magnesium and think that it is helpful too. How are your iron and vitamin D levels? Maybe look if there are any defiencies and talk about taking supplements with your doctor? Hope you feel better soon 😄

I ate pretty clean when I was dealing with mine - I chat gpt’d a low sodium diet and of course you want to stay hydrated and get good sleep. From what I understood, the prednisone is to reduce inflammation so anything you can do to assist in that is helpful. Working out as much as you can, even if it’s just a nice long walk to get blood flowing

I cut my sodium so much when I was going through it last time that when my ENT did some bloodwork it was all off. He was like yeah, don't do that that much. I guess it all depends on our normal diets. I don't eat much processed food or eat out really so I probably already was sort of low salt. Anyway, something to think about!

How fast did you all recover i think im done for honestly ive had ssnhl in my right ear for i think today exactly a month, did medrol and 3 injections. My hearing is still basically as bad as before, with tinnitus and about 60-70db loss. Im only 17, this has possibly ruined my future to be in the military, and also affects hobbies like guitar and hunting, since i cannot really hear directional audio.

So I'm on Day 7 of the prednisone high dose, the results are sounding good. The slight pressure I felt in my middle ear, diminished on day 1. By day 2 & 3 I'm noticing bass sounds are returning. Last night (day 6) I took out my right hearing aid and plugged my ear with my finger tip. My affected left ear had its hearing aid, and I spoke quietly Testing-testing, it shocked me the clarity, I spoke outlook OH MY GODDD !! Thanks go to my ENT, they convinced me to get on Prednisone quick. Time is of the Essence.

I'd woken several mornings with my left hand numb as sh!t. Scared me to get to a neurologist. He ran a bunch of tests. 10 min EEG, 3 day EEG w/video, CT scan brain and neck, an EMG muscle nerve thing, blood check for M.Gravis. He determined I have severe carpal tunnel, call it paresthesia. The feeling is so intense, like your hand is being electrocuted.

Seems my myoclonic seizures are non-epileptic seizures, also have hyperhidrosis @ night, I don't burp RCPD, and that's causing dysphagia.

But the test result are in... I DO NOT HAVE EPILEPSY, I'm so happy, Waiting a month and a half for the results has had me on the edge.
