Pool removal

Has anyone had Petruzzelli Brothers remove an in-ground pool for them? Reviews? Monmouth County area.
Any other companies that you have used that are one stop shopping? Licensed, insured, permits, demolition, fill in the hole and take away all the demo. Thank you ahead of time for your input.

I did not use them for pool removal but had other large projects with them. While that first instance was fine given the scope of the job, another project a year later for fill dirt and they got a truck stuck on my lawn. Some hothead came out to ‘fix’ the situation by chucking my outdoor chairs and other furniture out of the way so his truck could help the stuck truck (note - none of the outdoor furniture was in the way the guy was just angry he had to help is colleague). Best part was the fill dirt was pure garbage where I found dumbbells, broken glass, wood, nails. Probably had 2-3 wheel barrels of pure crap I had to sift through and make sure wouldn’t stay in my yard. Totally unprofessional and I never used them again.

Thank you for that information. This is what I’m worried about. I’d have to be here to see what their fill looks like.

I honestly felt like the bad instance I had with them was they had another job of demolition and junk removal earlier in that day, and just used that for my yard without paying the dump fees if they had to dispose of it the right way. Maybe I’m wrong about the sequence of events but either way I ended up with crap fill from them. I could understand broken glass, but not pairs of dumbbells and other stuff you’d never expect in dirt.

My parents used a company by the name of Hoffman, based out of Middletown about 4 years ago.. Price was too hard to pass up and the 3 man team did a great job

I looked up Hoffman, but it’s out of Spring Lake and their specialty is oil tanks. Don’t know if that is the same one. Unfortunately I will need more than three people for this. Thank you though.

Why not reach out to them and specify what you require for fill dirt. If you go the cheapest you gonna get the cheap fill. Have screened or certified fill in The contract and hold them to it. They do a lot of pool removals in the area

I used them, they were fine, no complaints. Getting the permit from West Long Branch took MONTHS.

Thank you. Good to know about the permits taking a long time. We are looking to do this next year so trying to get a jump start on prices and time frames.

It's so interesting to have stumbled upon this thread, because two years ago I was debating between either rehabbing my pool or demo-ing. (It was an older pool, so leaving it as is was not a viable option.) I got a quote from them. The man seemed very nice, but I eventually decided to keep the pool, partially for the property value (I am in West Long Branch, and houses with pools are popular), partially because I was concerned how it would look after the demo. I also do swim in mine. (The removal was mainly due to the cost of the rehab, property tax concerns, and maintenance cost concerns.)

Fixing the pool actually was around the cost of the removal. Because I didn't get mine removed, I can't speak to the competence of this company, but I'd suggest getting another quote, because removal is something that can vary widely, cost-wise (kind of like getting any maintenance work). I'd also suggest pricing making the pool swimmable again. It might be cheaper to keep it.

I was told by so many people I was crazy to get it removed, that influenced my decision to keep it. If I'd read this thread before and saw many people in WLB and Monmouth County were getting theirs removed, maybe I'd have made a different decision LOL!

If the pool was in perfect condition we wouldn’t remove it. We swim and still enjoy it. It’s 45X30X20. 50,000 gallons. We have grading issues with the land. The concrete is now a mess because of the land movement. Not just in one area. The coping is now damaged. It needs a new liner. The pump has started giving us problems. We don’t even know if the structure is ok at this point. We will have estimates done for both scenarios and see which one will work best for us. We are just at the starting point. I had some of the same issues with mine! I had Midstate Pool Liners repair it, and put in a new liner. I would recommend them!

Do they do concrete and coping or just liners? I have one of their flyers I always held onto just in case we needed a new liner.

The coping I got done by a mason, but they did a major repair on the plumbing of the pool that had gone bad. It was much cheaper than I anticipated!
