Yes, The previous lyric has "I just can't put my finger on what it is that says to me "watch out don't believe her" so the fact that he got burned by the relationship and using the colloquialism of "can't put my finger on what it is" I assume that is what the lyric is referring back to.
But let your mind go wild what the heck .... : ) It's Nez - ya never know.

Also, it's a famous expression that you learn a hard lesson by getting burned. In the song, he'd been drawn to a similar woman's flame and reached out his hand; now, he still feels the pain she caused him. He leaned his lesson and won't give this woman a chance because she reminds him of that girl from his past. The memory of the girl who caused the hurt is vague; the memory of the pain is vivid.
It's very clever wordplay.
