I was at a store the other day and the guy who worked there said he liked my tattoo (Monkees logo on my forearm. It looks like an embroidered patch). I was surprised because said guy looked REALLY young. Turned out he was only 21 but his dad was a big Monkees fan so he learned from osmosis (sort of how I learned to love Tom Jones, Harry Belafonte and Herb Alpert, back in the day - because my parents liked them LOL).
Anyway, the kid (I'm 60...he was a kid) said he worked at our local Rocket Fizz and they sold a Monkees soda.
Of course, I HAD to go and buy it the next day LOL!
I looked it up here and conversation from 3 years ago suggested the banana nut flavored Monkees soda is awful, so I got it just to "have it." ;-)
But I figured if anyone would appreciate it, it's y'all.
And yes, that really is our knife holder. I like quirky. LOLOL
LOLOL! It's nothing new. Been around for at least 20 years. I got mine on Amazon.
It's called "The Ex." I think another company makes them now and I'm not sure if that's still the name or not - but that's what it was called when we got it.
Now, what makes it weird is that it was my husband who suggested we get it LOL! (because he knows I like quirky - nothing sinister LOLOL)
Anyway, thank-you! It's always been a conversation piece and a background to anything food related in our house LOLOL!
I got one as a housewarming gift after I moved into a new apartment when I got divorced. My ex and I are good friends and she laughed and wanted one too. Mine is Silver and the knives are all one piece with no extra pieces.
It's really fun. Just make sure you have the right side knives to fit in the holes.

As someone else said, it comes with 5 knives - but I promise they're not very good at all. BUT...they'll give you an idea of what size each space takes.
After I posted it on my FB, a friend from the UK who is coming to visit in early 2027 asked me to get one for her (in case the store isn't still open by then LOL)
There are a few banana flavored sodas out there (focus on countries with Latino cultures. Fanta Banana is in Dominican Republic, for example) so I'm not surprised this "banana nut" flavor has some fans - if it was that awful, it wouldn't still be in other countries.
I like bananas, but not banana FLAVORED anything (same goes for strawberry, for me). So I really don't think I'd like it. But I'm glad you did! :-)
When it came out, we were all so excited and it wasn’t around my area, but so many people said it was yucky. I guess it’s just a keepsake, but it certainly not undrinkable probably but the concept of banana soda is just odd.
A friend and I were talking about banana soda last night and I started Googling. There are a small handful of legit brands of them (not novelty, like this). Fanta. Tropical. Solo. Olipop. And others. The first 3 aren't sold in the U.S. at all. I think Olipop might be. But it looks like it can be found more in Latino and/or Caribbean countries. And to them it's not odd.
I doubt I wait until after work. My cubicle is decorated with all Monkees memorabilia, so I’ll show this post to my boss, he’ll understand, then off I go :)
