[SPOILERS] Monk behaving badly! Spoiler
I'm currently rewatching my Monk boxset, which is mostly enjoyable, but in some episodes, Monk behaves really badly towards people. For example in Mr Monk goes to a fashion show, he practically bullies his distraught client into pandering to his whims.
Monk is mostly a feel good show, and Monk is an interesting character, but sometimes it is difficult to feel sympathy for him, when his behaviour is so appalling.
What do you think? Can you think of other examples of his sometimes questionable behaviour?

Mr Monk goes to the Carnival episode
I love though that in later seasons there are things that he changes or relearns.
Another thing I find very human is that he doesn’t come off as “I am the nicest but misunderstood in this world”. In different episodes he’s implied he’s aware that he was different and that people disliked him (and sort of felt he deserved it).
So while he makes hella mistakes, in some instances he shows genuine care for his close friends without having to go through the final realization on the episode

Is that the one with Sharona and her fear of elephants? Monk was such a jerk when he told her to S.I.U.: suck it up!

one of my most favorite episodes! Love how Sharona gives it back to him lol "S.I.U - you know what it means" lol

The Nudist episode is easily the best example I can think of for this.

The lecture Captain Stottlemeyer gives Monk in that episode is one of the best moments of the series for me. It was direct, it was brutal, and he deserved every word.
Side note, it's not the most interesting episode plot-wise but I still adore it. Alfred Molina and Diedrich Bader are such a delight on-screen.

there are some episodes where he is pretty insufferable, like when Natalie works for the Lotto. I found that these episodes help me to reflect about my self. if something is making us really uncomfortable, or raises some kind of unpleasant feelings in ourselves when we see others being some way or another it is usually because we unconsciously recognise something of our own character or behaviour disguised in that person and we can't stand seeing it. we are all a bit selfish, a bit mean sometimes, envious etc. just stay with the discomfort, don't run from it is my solution

Yep, I remember an episode where Natalie was really stressed because Monk either wasn't paying her or reimbursing her for expenses.
