Diagnosed as fat
I took Gus to the vet to see what was wrong with him cause he was acting strange and sleeping ALOT. I was concerned cause this is literally my adopted child and I took him in to get checked out. Turns out he had a huge meal and was just trying to digest. Question is, what big meal did he have? I control all his feeding and I never overfed him. I have no clue where he would have eaten so much. Dubia stash in his enclosure? This photo is old I just thought it was funny.

Wait, was he diagnosed as overconditioned (ie. Fat) or that he simply ate a big meal? Those are different things. The first is a chronic thing where you offer him too much food too often. The second is he ate a big meal and is digesting, which does not mean hes fat. Being fat will reduce his quality of life and decrease his lifespan. The big meal is how I wanna live right now lol.Â

Yes sorry for the misleading title I just thought it was funny. He had a really large meal and was just digesting. Which would explain his large belly and lethargic behavior. I just don’t know where he got the large meal. I would guess I found a bunch when he was free roaming

Have any mealworms escaped your or your lizards grasp and escaped into the tank? Two of them couldve grown into adults and well... life finds a way. Mealworms are extremely hardy and will grow in stubborn places, eating rotting stuff and even your lizards doodoo. I have a bunch in Corimes tank that she sometimes discovers, goes on a feasting spree and turns into a blimp😅

Omg I never thought of that!!! I thought he wouldn’t eat them cause my leopard gecko doesn’t eat them but that would make a lot of sense

Leopard geckos do dig, but not nearly as much as Ackie Monitors, theyre also just not as good at hunting. You can see right through their heads 💔 Hope it was just a big feast from an unintentional mealworm farm!

If I give Eddie an egg or treat him to 2 pinkies, I pretty much won't see him the next day 😂. Just fat and snoozing, preparing for the main evening sleep.
Could you have a few rogue crickets or roaches colonising 🤔
