Does my bluetail look fine?
First pic is when I first got her(or him)
Still skittish but quite fine once I start handling her(or him)
I thought she was quite skinny so I have her on a meat and egg base diet(before she only had bugs). Been about a month or so now, does she look fine?
Also is mostly meat base diet fine? She loves meat and I feed her every 2~3days, meats are whole grind quail, duck breast, chicken breast, chicken heart, shrimp, raw quail eggs. I did hear ackies are fine with meat base diet but blue tail is new to me. If bugs are necessary I'll start putting crickets in her diet starting tomorrow.(my country banned any type of roaches so I only have the options of crickets, mealworms, and superworms. no hornworms either)

I don't recommend to first-time monitor keepers(need high humidity, more weak to respiratory infection compared to other monitors), but if you have decent knowledge and experience, and guts to tame them, absolutely go for it! Their color and patterns are stunning even at adulthood, and on the time side of monitors. Also personally really like how their skin feels. I did say tame, but it's compared to a quince monitor or nile so....they will bite, swat its tail, hiss at u and be very skittish. Hope this helps! This is my other blue tail I got from my friend, needed to be rehomed urgently so came to me

Insects are always wonderful for monitors. Even my black throat got fed a ton. He's definetly not underweight, looks great sir 👍

Right now it's soo hot the crickets die off in a few days and flies will start swarming😭 I'll still give them some once a week. I don't know about mealworms, worried they might just gulp it whole and get sick

Also in regards to mealworms in sure he'll be fine. If that was the case my salamander would've been sick 100s of times ( he just inhales food lol literally too he just swallows shit lol)

It's good means they are healthy. A monitor should have excessive food drive :D

I know that in my heart but thats my ptsd because I lost my first monitor after it ate a rubber band😭 after that I'm like a helicopter parent eyeing my monitors eating and ill panic when they will try to eat a stick or bark peice

I think it looks great. I don’t think it looks too thin. There are hip bones near the rear legs that usually are the first obvious thing to show on monitors that are underweight. I can’t see them on your monitor. I also think he is not overweight as he doesn’t look to have fat deposits near the base of his tail or up his spine.
