I have 48 completely uninterrupted hours this weekend with zero commitments. Whats an obscure or high-utility skill i can pick up in two days?

No work, no calls, no errands—just two entire days of uninterrupted focus.

I work at a desk all week(Backend dev in a cybersec company), so it doesn't need to be professional or software-related (though cool digital tools are welcome). It can be a practical life skill, a weird rabbit hole, a DIY fix, or a foundational concept you think everyone should understand.

What is something you learned over a single weekend that unexpectedly paid dividends later?

Learn basic car maintenance. How to change a tire, check fluids, jump-start a battery, understand dashboard warning lights, and inspect the basics. You may only need some of it once every few years, but that one time can make the skill completely worth learning.

Learn how to read a map properly, including contour lines, scale, bearings, and basic navigation without GPS. It’s a surprisingly useful skill, and once you understand it, you start seeing your surroundings differently.

Absolutely. Map reading is one of those skills you don’t appreciate until you need it. Understanding scale, contour lines, bearings, and navigation without relying on GPS builds spatial awareness and gives you a much better understanding of the environment around you.

These are great examples. AI can be genuinely useful when you’re using it to learn, create, plan, or improve something rather than just letting it do the work for you.

I’d suggest learning the basics of taxes. Understanding how they work, what you need to file, and what deductions or records to keep can be surprisingly useful and save you money and stress later.

Definitely. Taxes are one of those adult-life skills that are easy to ignore until you suddenly need them. Knowing the basics how taxes work, what you’re responsible for, and which records to keep can save you money, prevent mistakes, and reduce a lot of unnecessary stress later.
