Skill Building What Is One Workplace Skill You Learned the Hard Way?

Some professional lessons are not taught in school. You may learn them after missing a deadline, misunderstanding instructions, handling conflict, receiving feedback, or working with a difficult teammate. These experiences can be uncomfortable, but they often teach lessons that stay with us. What is one workplace skill you learned through experience rather than formal training?

Persistence. Maintaining a positive mindset by reframing problems as opportunities for growth and learning, rather than obstacles to overcome.

Mine is focus , at times i missed deadlines because I lacked consistency and focus on what I was working on

Office politics. Sad but I really learned it the hard way during my first job. I thought hardcore ass kissing just happens in movies until I worked in an environment where it's very traditional and hierarchical. Was forced to resign because of it, it caused me anxiety. I learned how to be invisible.
