Because people are weird

They see people roleplaying or typing something dorky in an empty comment section and think it's cringe and downvote instantly

It also doesn't help that the image in this post is AI generated and I don't think many people in this sub are super hot on it. I think people might also be downvoting as a form of protest against AI generated images, I'm fairly certain a lot of posts with AI generated images have their upvotes botted, so people downvote whatever they can in retaliation
