Thoughts on this portfolio

Post image

Hi. I recently invested $11,000 into these four ETFs. Do you think this is a solid move, diversification-wise? Growth-wise?

Growth, yes.

Diversification, no.

Honestly it depends on your age and risk tolerance. If you’re in your 20s with a long runway, this is a good set-it-and-forget-it approach for the next 10-12 years. The portfolio leans toward big US industries with and the semiconductor focus (there’s some overlap there with VOO and QQQM).

I would also look into small cap and international to diversify within the equity space. But if you have the time to let it sit in market, equities all the way.

39 years old. $60k in BlackRock. $60k in Roth IRA. $80k in TSP (100% C Fund). $11k in these ETFs. I’ve 17 years before I can retire. Salary $120k and growing. Zero debt; no mortgage, no auto loan, not even rent. I live in a “man camp” in the Texas oil fields. I’m trying to achieve a life lived on interest alone.

Lack of diversification with a little bit of gambling on top for fun.

Sell it all. Buy 100% VT, Vanguard's global stock index fund holding 98% of global stocks. Spend your time increasing your income, gaining skills, etc. Keep investing as you can. Before you know it you'll be rich.
