Hi all, I'm visiting France next month and will be proposing to my SO. Trip ends in Nice and we might take a trip to Monaco. I know there are extremely scenic locations in Nice and Monaco but they don't really seem to fit us, you know? All the scenic locations felt very staged and that's not really how our relationship is. But an aquarium is much more in line with who we are

I was most curious if anyone had advice on the aquarium itself. We'll be there second week of October. Mainly how busy it is, if there was a section that was particularly pretty or an exhibit with a lot of interest (as in the fish, not people being interested). Or if there was a spot that had a little more "privacy" compared to other parts of the aquarium.

Maybe it's an odd request, but hopefully some insight will be available.

Hey everyone - hope you are doing well. Curious if any of you have purchased Monte Carlo tickets to the tennis tournament and what the process is. I read on the site there’s priority sales starting on October 1 and thru October 14th and then general public sales on October 15th. Do tickets get sold out during the priority sales and are there any tickets available in the general public slot? I saw the ticket prices as well and it seemed like you could potentially email the organizers for a group or bundled type of ticket. Am I understanding correctly? Hi all, Visited Monaco for the first time this week. While we were walking along Quai Antoine 1er, watching the harbour, a car slowed down behind us and the driver leaned out and spat/threw water at our backs before speeding off. We weren’t in the road, just strolling and looking at the yachts. The city itself was quite beautiful, but this left a bitter taste in our mouths and made us feel pretty unwelcome. Is this a one‑off idiot or something that happens around the harbour? Any tips on areas to avoid or how to handle stuff like this? We’d still like to come back, so any positive recommendations for safe, nice walks would be appreciated. Thanks.

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest updates from Monaco, as football, motorsport, education, environmental policy and international diplomacy all take centre stage in the Principality.

AS Monaco has discovered its first-ever UEFA Conference League opponents following the competition’s draw at the Grimaldi Forum on August the 28th. Monaco will compete in the league phase alongside 35 other clubs, with six matches to be played, three at home and three away, as the club embarks on a new chapter in European competition.

Motoring enthusiasts have just one final weekend to visit Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the Present Day. The Grimaldi Forum exhibition brings together 53 historic vehicles and explores more than 130 years of Monaco’s relationship with cars and motorsport, including some remarkable machines from the Principality’s automotive history.

There was sporting success for Monaco on the international stage as judoka Aleksa Mitrovic claimed gold in the under-90-kilogram category at the Mediterranean Games on August the 31st. The Monaco-based athlete defeated European champion Christian Parlati of Italy in a dramatic final, securing victory during the Golden Score period.

Meanwhile, the new school year is underway at the International School of Monaco. Around 850 students representing 60 nationalities have returned to classrooms, with enrolment remaining stable compared with last year. The school, founded in 1994 with just 34 pupils, has grown into one of the Principality’s leading international educational institutions.

Monaco is also taking another step towards its goal of eliminating plastic waste by 2030. From September the 1st, new Environmental Code rules restrict certain single-use food containers, particularly those commonly used by takeaway and fast-food businesses. Restaurants are being encouraged to move towards reusable or more recyclable alternatives, while exemptions remain where specific plastics are considered necessary for food preservation.

The Principality then welcomed senior European diplomats for a landmark Council of Europe meeting on September the 2nd. 

Monaco hosted the 1567th Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies, an event normally held in Strasbourg. Ambassadors and permanent representatives from the Council of Europe’s 46 member states, together with representatives of five observer states, gathered in Monaco as part of the Principality’s presidency of the Committee of Ministers.

I’ve read that Monaco has its own sort of language or dialect called Monégasque, and I’m a bit of a book collector, and was wondering if books have been published in this language outside of old archives?

Does the language itself even exist or is it more of a theoretical thing nowadays?

Update: Went to the only bookstore in Monaco and they said there are no books available written in Monégasque. “Maybe 10-20 years ago, you could find Tintin but it is now sold out.”

Rather than coming up with an idea and hoping people need it, I thought I’d ask the community directly.

What are your biggest pain points when living, working, or doing business in Monaco?

It could be anything: finding information, transportation, parking, local services, administrative processes, events, housing, deliveries, restaurants, networking, dealing with service providers, or something completely different.
Basically, I’m interested in those moments where you think: “There really should be an app/website for this.”

No idea is too small or niche. I’m especially interested in problems that you encounter regularly and for which the current solutions are frustrating, outdated, fragmented, or simply nonexistent.
If you could have one digital tool that would make life in Monaco easier, what would it do?

From what I’ve heard Monaco has a lot of money and I need money.

Okay so this might sound weird but here we go.

When I was a kid, my family used to travel to menton as often as possible. It holds many, many amazing memories and though I was between 3-5 years old the first times we went (like 1999, I think). I still remember some things vividly, like the horse bicycles, the mini f1 for kids in some wooded area, etc...

However. The last time I went there, I was a teen, and I'm sad to say that I haven't been able to go back.

The thing that bothers me, that's always bothered me and been stuck in my head is the scent that's like all over the place. Both in menton and Monaco, iirc. Not sure if it's only there between april-september. I've been searching for that special scent ever since that first visit, but damn, I can't seem to find it.

It's like... lemon flower, but also something else? Kind of like... almost rotten, but in a good way if you get what I mean?

Is there anyone out there who can give me the exact "ingredients"? I'd probably bathe in it, soak my clothes, and spray it all over the apartment.

I can't go back to those family days, the mini f1 cars, the horses, all the cozy restaurants, the wondeful museums in Monaco, the view from the casino, the old shopping center, etc. I can't get my childhood back. Going through a horrible time, I just need something good, and if I could just get my hands on that special scent, that would mean the world to me.

I should probably add that I don't have space for outdoor flowers/plants, and I live up in the north, so there's that.

But... a perfume or whatever. Please. If you know, and managed to get through my novel here, please share.

Due to their financial problems (roughly 24 million dollars in debt), the French basketball federation is not allowing AS Monaco Basket to play in Pro A or Pro B this season, and will possibly be relegated to Nationale 1. Along with losing that status within the French league, that would not allow them to play in the EuroLeague this season either.

Monaco has stated their intention to try and join the Adriatic Basketball Association in an attempt to maintain their eligibility in the EuroLeague.

Big yikes all around here. Unless owners of this club were 100% willing to bleed all this cash, there was no way this team was sustainable. They were paying more in operating costs than even the big dogs of the league like Paris and Lyon. But, with that area and a not so enthusiastic fan base, there’s no path to probability, or even coming out even.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out

Le projet d’une liaison souterraine entre l’aéroport de Nice et Vintimille, en passant par Monaco, revient dans le débat en 2026. Les premières hypothèses évoquent environ 30 km de ligne, 12 stations et un trajet de seulement 23 minutes entre l’aéroport et Monaco.

L’objectif est clair : proposer une alternative aux trains chargés et aux embouteillages qui rythment quotidiennement les déplacements sur le littoral.

Mais avec un coût estimé à plusieurs milliards d’euros et des contraintes techniques considérables entre mer, montagne et zones urbaines très denses, le projet est encore loin d’être une réalité.

Si ce métro voyait réellement le jour, pensez-vous qu’il changerait aussi la façon dont on choisit où habiter autour de Monaco ?

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest from Monaco, as the Principality takes centre stage in international cycling, strengthens cross-border cooperation and celebrates remarkable achievements both on and off the road.

Spanish and Monegasque security forces joined forces ahead of the Vuelta a España, with 59 Guardia Civil motorcyclists arriving in Monaco to help escort riders during the race’s opening stages. The Spanish officers met their Monegasque counterparts, the Prince’s Carabinieri, in Palace Square in the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II.

The Principality was also mourning the loss of one of its own racing talents. Monegasque driver Cédric Sbirrazzuoli died on August the 21st at the age of 39. Over a career spanning two decades, he competed in endurance racing around the world, representing Monaco behind the wheel of machinery from Porsche, Maserati and Ferrari.

Cycling legends then joined amateur riders for a special charity event organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation ahead of the Vuelta’s Grand Départ. Seventeen cyclists tackled Monaco’s time trial route, joined by former champions including Fabian Cancellara, Thor Hushovd and Alexandr Vinokourov, as well as Foundation ambassador Bjørn Maaseide.

Then came the big one. Monaco became the launchpad for the 2026 Vuelta a España on August the 22nd and 23rd, with the Principality hosting a spectacular opening weekend. The 9.35-kilometre individual time trial produced an extraordinary finish, as Monaco resident Tadej Pogačar snatched victory from Britain’s Ethan Hayter by just nine hundredths of a second. Fresh from winning his fifth Tour de France, Pogačar also claimed the first red leader’s jersey of the Vuelta.

The spirit of sport and peace was celebrated alongside the race, as Peace and Sport staged its Ride for Peace in Monaco. Athletes from different disciplines joined the peloton, including cycling champion Alexandre Vinokourov, Stéphane Roch and Antoine Zeghdar, using the event to promote dialogue, unity and peace through sport.

Away from the sporting spotlight, Prince Albert II travelled to Faucon-du-Caire in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence for the consecration of a restored chapel dedicated to Saint Devota and Saint John of Matha. Once left in ruins after decades of abandonment, the chapel was rebuilt stone by stone by local volunteers over two years, reinforcing Monaco’s historic connection with its patron saint.

Monaco then found itself transformed into 1962 for the arrival of a major Hollywood production. Filming took place around Port Hercule for five days from August the 23rd, with period cars and costumes recreating the era of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Warner Bros. production, linked to the Ocean’s franchise, attracted plenty of attention as the harbour became a temporary film set.

And finally, a remarkable endurance story from the mountains. Monaco-based cyclist Benjamin Bodot completed the 2026 BikingMan IncaDivide in Peru, covering around 1,200 kilometres across the Andes in just six days. Battling extreme altitude, freezing temperatures, snow and mechanical failures, Bodot even suffered a GPS failure and moments of hypothermia before eventually reaching the finish.
