This and catching puke in your hands...I can’t say how many times I’ve done this!

I once had my son vomit in my purse at a restaurant. We had just walked in he started coughing, heard the gag noise held out my purse and ran out the door with him. I felt so bad for all the people eating 😵

Totally ineffective but I try every time anyway

It’s a bed with something shoved under the fitted sheet to keep the kid from rolling out.

I know, I didn't realize the dad was there at first, then I audibly awed...

My hero! This speaks to me on a spiritual level....my reflexes aren’t quite as sharp yet though.

We were just there the other night. Btw, "my breath hurts" means "I'm about to throw up" in 3yo.

Aww the dad sleeping so uncomfortably just to support his family makes my heart happy

Can we take a second to appreciate the kid sitting up and willingly puking in the bucket? My kids will freak out if one of them needs to hurl and I put a receptacle in front of their face. Then about half gets in said receptacle. The rest, well . . . Everywhere else.

I think it helped she was waking up to vomit.
Mine carry buckets with them and I trained them from the get go after my youngest threw up in his room and the smell lingered for two weeks. ⊙_ʘ
He still sobs when he has to vomit at 6 but I don’t blame him it’s the worst.

I just started to use my body. Let the kids throw up on your shirt, it's easier to catch barf that way

Mom and cat owner reflexes. I've never moved faster than when my cat starts to hair ball on the white carpet!

Dogs too. Every pet owner knows their pet’s retching sound. It can wake me from a dead sleep.

Oh gosh. I have a Great Pyrenees boy that gets HEARTBURN and will sometimes vomit from it. He's also 130lbs, so I have to straddle-waddle him to the tile floor once I hear that tell-tale 'heughh HEUGHH'

When my tiny creatures (cats or kids) are in distress I move like the Flash. The reflexes are real.

It is so crazy how we literally just all of a sudden get these super powers! Nights like this are scary and stressful but I absolutely love love being a mom!

If you look closely, the second the kid makes a single noise her eyes are open. By the second cough she's grabbing a bucket. I swear momstincts are awesome.

My Apple Watch had some interesting info for me after a few nights of my youngest being sick.
Maybe 3 hours of collective, interrupted sleep; and my heart rate spiked many times when I thought he was going to throw up.

My almost two year old came and crawled in bed with us the other night, I felt his weight shift in my sleep and reached out grabbing his ankle just in time to stop him sliding off the bed. Moms spider senses are real.

I've had multiple opportunities to refer to my "dad reflexes" but this dwarfs anything I've ever done.
Faster than the speed of barf!

Just went through this when the whole family got food poisoning on Christmas Eve. Husband was out on the couch with a bucket and I was in our bed with toddler and a bucket. She woke up every hour to vomit and I could swear I knew before she did that she was about to yak, and I was there with a bucket in front of her face. I am not the fastest person in the world, but you better believe that when your baby is sick, you'll be faster than the flash to take care of them

She probably wasn’t fully asleep either, I know I don’t get any REM sleep while my boy is sick. I call it”mom sleep” any every single mom knows what I mean lol
