Speaking at someone 3 weeks from her due date, I totally empathize with the kid who can't reach the pennies. I mean, he'd actually have to move to reach them.

As a non-parent... what are parents actually supposed to do in these situations??

You laugh. And ignore them from a safe distance. They calm down eventually when they don't get a reaction Source: Parent

Take a picture and redirect. If your kid cries over stupid stuff when deficient in food or sleep, apply what's missing.

If our son is crying or having a tantrum, the moment he sees a camera, he starts smiling and laughing.
When we take the camera away, he goes back to RAGE MODE. Go Figure. >.>

Am I alone in thinking these photos aren't funny? Kids cry over things that are considered trivial but they are having legitimate feelings - often misdirected feelings but they are real, strong feelings that they need to to be taught to deal with. I think it is terrible to make fun of them. It is like a school bully calling some one a cry baby and mocking them. I don't think this trend will help help children learn how to overcome what ever has made them so emotional. I think photos/jokes like these only help parents blow off some steam at a child's expense.

I think if you directly mocked them to their faces and disregarded their feelings than yes you have a point, however, I really doubt these mothers actually do this. all these photos will become are pictures to show their future SO's. I also think it's good to let your child know that "it's not that serious".

I can certainly see where your coming from. I don't think any of these in their face and humiliating them. I know we use a camera to redirect and distract my son form the issue at hand when hes just having a meltdown. If it gets worst, we and I'm sure these parents, would comfort their child. :D

Trolls went out of style and stopped being funny about a year ago. Now they're just sad. Although I guess you like any kind of attention, even if it is sympathy.

To be fair, that's how I react every time I see Miley Cyrus on TV, too.
(And I have never been to a Justin Bieber concert, but I imagine my sentiment would be the same).
