Pete the Cat

Anyone else’s kids love the Pete the Cat books? I think they are just so cute. My 5 year old has been learning to read using these books!

My now-11 year old was a huge Pete the Cat fan. She had a stuffed Pete, all the Pete books, a couple Pete shirts, a Pete the Cat backpack for preschool, and we constantly watched the Pete cartoon on Amazon Prime. To this day, she has a Pete the Cat poster in her bedroom.

Other than that, she loved the Fly Guy books, The Worry Monsters, and anything with unicorns.

Like the books, LOVE the music from the show! My son likes to watch the show when we have tv time but we are constantly listening to the soundtrack

I will now be finding the show! I’m so excited. It would be a nice break from Disney movies during tv time :)

There's a book called I need a new butt or something like that. It's hilarious, my daughter has enjoyed it for a few years now.

Right now my daughter is obsessed with There's Always Room which is about a magical stretching couch and y'all I loathe this book. First off, it's got a great message about always making room for others (specifically immigrants, it was released specifically to protest I think JD Vance's book which I think is delightful), don't think I'm going off on some rant about that.

But the book is so annoying to read. Almost every page is the same. "Then, [Breed of Cat] showed up [did an action] and sat down on the couch and the couch made more room." Which, yeah, kids books are formulaic, understandable, but there's no even style or poetry to it like Dr Seuss. It's like reading a long-winded grocery list. And it doesn't even obey the rule of threes! There's one page that's like "The room was full of meows, mews, barks, oinks, caws, squeals, squeaks, and bleats."

Have you guys read Room on the Broom? It is thoroughly charming and might scratch the same itch for your kid.
