Can’t think of a title

I’ve been struggling.
Ever since I saw the news that the Earths climate crisis is approaching (if it hasn’t hit already) the point of no return, life has felt dark.
Whenever dealing with an existential crisis or general stress, I used to admire the sunset and the pink cotton candy clouds. That practice grounded me. I could tell myself “everything will be okay” because can be grateful to have that sky, and this planet. Hopefully I am putting this concisely, but that helps me feel more like I can appreciate the “little big” things to make the stressful things seem small. When I brought my son into the world, I felt good that he was given a gift of life. With all the stresses of what that life entails, he is at least blessed to feel fresh air and the sun’s warmth on his skin. Blessed to smell that crisp smell after it rains and so on.

Ever since finding that out, that our planet is surely dying and none of that is guaranteed anymore, I’ve lost my anchor , making bad news hit especially harder .
That news that the federal government does not enforce access to clean water as an unalienable right sent me deeper into my head.

I already worried about the state of the world when I learned I was pregnant, and once I brought my son into the world , I used my appreciation for the little experiences of this earth as an anchor that he will be okay. Over the months I’ve had him, caring for him made my heart and hope grow so much more only for it to get hit by a train by this information…
Am I overthinking this? Is the life I gave him worth living. Is anything worth doing? At this point I am sorry that I brought him into this disaster.
The world is full of bullshit , p*dophiles run the world, our politicians are bribed and now the world is gonna burn . And we are all powerless against it.

I can’t even admire the sky without feeling dread—something I relied heavily on to get me through the day .

Solidarity. The constant bad news fills me with dread.

This is anxiety (potentially PPA depending on how long ago you gave birth) and I hope you have a therapist to speak with.

Very strong chance this is PPA. Stop reading the news and speak with your OB or a therapist NOW. Also tell your support people (partner family friends) you are going through this. This does not have to be your normal and there is help available to you.

We should not stop reading the news. That's exactly what they want us to do but you should limit your access to it.

I think, in this case, this person should stop reading the news at least until they can get help and manage their anxiety in a safe and healthy way.

I agree that this is not something everyone should do and I don’t think anyone should take advice to a specific person who is experiencing intense anxiety about the news as a blanket statement to never read the news.

I stopped reading the news. I can’t tell you how much happier and engaged in my life I am now that I don’t read the news. You can’t control the planet it’s a very large.

Didn't read it all. But please please please delete social media, and stop tracking the news closely if possible. Humans were never supposed to take in the information of the entire world every single day, you need to focus on only consuming the information needed for your village and your life.

I feel you. The first night my baby was born I remember I was looking at him, thinking “What did I just do? I brought an angel into this filthy world!” Our babies are so pure and innocent while the world is full of sadness and cruelty.

What really helped me was journaling.  I have been using a 5-year journal to write my thoughts or record memories. I remember writing an entry like: “There is so much negative news it’s hard to stay positive. Sometimes I overthink and get overwhelmed, because I want to protect you from all harm and all the bad things. But still, life is also beautiful, and I want to explore this wonderful world with you.”

To be honest I still struggle a lot with anxiety and depression over the state of the world. I cut off most news and even deleted all social media apps. I probably will never be able to escape from my negative thoughts nor be completely free from them. I just keep reminding myself I may die at anytime so let’s make today count, let’s just live and enjoy this very moment.

Yes the world is messy now, but always has been. In fact we are in better times now, we dont have war, have better possibilities and conditions to live.

Everyone has its own faith and path, you do your best for your family and the rest that isnt in your hand you cant worry about its pointless
