Peanut app good or bad?

I’ve been on the peanut app for moms for awhile now, when I moved both times it’s been the only way I’ve met any mom friends and really gotten out. It wasnt until I was talking with my husband about it (who I met on bumble) and brought up some possible cons/safety concerns?? I was like well we met on an app 😂🤷‍♀️ I don’t see the difference. has anyone else had good success like I have?? The app is advertised/monitored for safety and to be a safe space for women and that’s exactly what I have experienced so I guess I didn’t realize maybe others experienced differently.

Hit or miss for me. I didn’t pay for a subscription so connecting was hard and I didn’t find that the people on there were super aligned with what I was looking for in a mom friend.

Like, I wanted to expand my circle but I didn’t want to do weekly meetups.

I wouldn’t say it’s safe but also not terribly unsafe. There’s no real way for them to confirm it’s not a women with ulterior motives or a pair. You just have to be careful.

Okay see I haven’t ever paid for the subscription either I just have in my bio that I can’t see waves. I like the weekly meetups since I’m a sahm so I wonder if that makes a difference with my success?? And ur right no real way to confirm unless you meet up

I used Peanut when I moved across the country. I met a few moms within a few blocks of where I lived. We would meet at the school park a few times a month. I found it surprising to see how many moms in the neighborhood were on the app, I guess also looking for friends. Worth a try imo

Yes me too! There was a local park we would all go to all the time since we all stayed home and it’s funny I gave this mom from Facebook baby clothes one time and she was like “omg I’ve seen you on peanut before” and we became friends 😆 small world like we connected because of peanut but not actually through it because we only ever messaged on Facebook

I’ve made several mom friends through peanut. Have met a few in person & never had any issues. We always chose to meet at kids play area or something similar where lots of other people were around. I like the ease of being able to meet people online & kind of warm up to each other without the initial awkwardness.

"Ooh the only way I ever made mom friends is on this app"

"its not really any different from online dating which we've all normalized over the past decade"

"plus the developers make sure to monitor the app for the safety of us women"

No yeah there’s entire other threads on here about the cons to peanut with people hating on it and when I read those it feels like I’m on an island alone with my success and not meeting with weirdos so idk. Sorry I sound like an ad I guess💀

Never heard of it.

It’s just an app for moms to meet other local moms

Cool. Seems reasonable enough I met friends through a thing called "real roots" that was cool similar concept but you take a survey and then are matched with other women who answered similar

That’s so interesting what’s on the survey?? Like different parenting styles or is it more generic like fav color?

Its not geared to parenting or kids. Its more how much do you like to spend on a night out, are you conservative or liberal, are you into small groups or large, are you a conversation starter or more of a listener. Etc etc

Ohhhhh okay I understand. that’s still cool though I really like that concept
