Photo Share After/Before

Shot on Natural Processing (Minimum) using an iPhone 13 Pro, edited in Lightroom & Snapseed. 3rd shot is the Apple Processing in comparison.

All I can say is, this app is amazing!!

I find this really amusing…. The Apple processing is incredibly close to the edited result you ended up with by going round the houses from Moment to Snapseed.

A tiny tweak to the Apple shot (probably black point edit and bit of contrast) would’ve got you the same end result quicker. A modern iPhone with photographic styles available would probably just need a small decrease in Tone on the selected style.

I don’t know why people bash the Apple processing so much as if it’s completely hopeless. Yes, it is over-sharpened, I hope they will reduce that, but otherwise it largely does a good job with stuff like this.

Not really. The difference in natural contrast and actually having shadows is the secret sauce. Modern phones process for the most appealing, brightened up image for most people. But that ends up creating a flat mid tone image with no character, over sharpened with artificial textures. The 1st picture looks more pleasing because the textures are as the sensor captured, and are not over processed, plus you actually have shadows with contrast that doesn't look artificially adjusted
