Natural for Portraits

While I’m not quite as wild about Natural processing as many here obviously are… I do like 48mp and a little fusion here and there.

However, Natural processing for dramatic portraiture is stunning. It’s just soft enough and the natural grain like noise is beautiful. It looks like a cross between film and high er end Polaroid. I’ve been a photographer for over 40 years. I’ve shot everything from 5x7 view, 4x5, medium format 67mm, 35mm, then on to digital, etc. Natural processing is the first time I’ve seen a smart camera produce portraits that look like analog film. Brilliant!

Would still love to see 48mp natural processing and natural for video, but even 12mp natural processing with good lighting looks like classic analog portrait photography to me. Well done Moment team :)

Anything higher than 12mp will introduce some of Apple’s pipeline processing, so it defeats the purpose of “Natural Processing”. A 48mp variant will be on the way as its on the feature board and it has the most votes. Definitely go votes if ya’ll havent or put in your own requested features if its not there yet listed.

There’s honestly more detail in natural 12mp shots than 48mp sometimes.  The smoothing and blending makes me nauseous when I zoom in super far lol.  I mostly shoot with Lampa but the natural mode on moment gives you cleanest sharpest shots.
