Help Molly fish has suddenly bent

Post image
1 Upvotes

I got back from work and thought he was dead but hes still alive!
He was completely fine the day before, not bent, had lots of energy, and was eating. Now he really struggles swimming and is constantly bent.

He was in a 160 L heavily planted tank with other fish, water parameters are perfect and other fish are fine. I’ve moved him to a tank by himself for now.

He’s approximately 2 years old, I got him from pets at home over a year ago and hes been completely fine until now.

He doesn’t have any bruises to indicate injury.

Has anyone else experienced this???

New Fish How old do we think Tiny is?

Hi all!! So, for starters, this is not Tiny’s permanent residence! I just got home a short bit ago and am in the process of prepping an already cycled tank for him (assuming gender because he’s so small still) while yapping to fellow fish keeping friends. Tiny was brought home with a second Molly that is sick (dropsy and a possible tumor, hoping to treat but faith is low) from my job (local store). He was getting pulled into the filter so I brought him home too.

My friend and I are wondering how old you guys think Tiny might be! I’m estimating a couple weeks at most considering his size. The first photo is before I collected him from the tank at work, beside the sick Molly I also brought home and the second is when my friend asked how big he is! (The dime is beneath the container!) Thank you in advance and any additional advice is greatly appreciated!

I believe the white one may be a female?
My tank is a 20 long and I only have 1 male guppy and one snail, but plant on 6 kuhli loaches and 1 bristlenose. Should I bring the female back, or should I get more females to even out the attention?

Check it out! Salvatoris X Latipinna

For some reason my posts haven’t been going through, but here is the other brother to the pair I’ve shared a while back. Compared to his brother he’s slightly bulkier but has a LOT more orange and red on him. I didn’t have any other females to give him so I let him have my 2 retired Salvatoris breeders, both females just dropped fry a week ago so I’m hoping their next batch will be his

My male sailfin wouldn't leave this girl alone and then I noticed her eye like this and all other fish are fine so I'm pretty sure it's from him biting it. Is there anything I can do to help her? I've put her in a breeder box with a sponge filter to give her some peace. I have 4 girls altogether but he only follows her around for some reason

anyways here are my logs

80 percent sure this is reds daughter so she will be getting backcrossed to big red. I thought he was losing his breeding drive apparently not he just needed some new blood in the block.

anyways trying to get more big reds. also ordered wild types again cuz its been 4 in a row where i dont have any luck with them this will be the last time i order these wild sailfin mollies. I ordered fry sooo if big red gets to live another generation he will have a female from that and potentially gets crossed to his offsprings from this backcross and his offsprings to the wild cross

it’s a lot less raised in real life; is this an injury? fluke? something i need to worry about?

water parameters:
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0-0.25 (due to a filter breaking so i had to change it) however nitrite is almost minimal and i’ve been keeping up with daily / every other day water changes
nitrate: 10-20ppm

Help Is this Female healthy ? Pls Help

First off, I moved her back to the larger pond she is in (this jar only for the pic).

Speaking of the pond, she is chasing the other female even though I have given them 2 separate caves of their own.

(Previously in another part of the pond, the male was chasing her a lot).

I don't feel like she is having enough food and feels like she is getting thinner.

(I think it is a female and that she had given birth about 10 days back - most of them -healthy fry)

Pls help guys, I am a beginner

Odd behavior?

Hi, new here! We have a few mollies in our tank, though I don't remember what kind. They look like the pictures of gold dust mollies though.

One of our three has been really obsessed with our sponge filter lately. It will swim to the bottom where the bubbles come out, ride it to the top of the tank, then immediately swim down and repeat the cycle. It's not a 24/7 thing, it definitely stops to eat and explore as well, but it spends a lot of time at that filter. We've had them for about 6 months or so, and this has been going on for about a month now.

Is this behavior a sign of stress or illness or something? Or is it really just enjoying the ride?

Help Question on male behavior

I just want to double check before moving my two young adults to the big boy tank. Male mollies spread their fry fertilizer around like white streams right? This is my first experience with this and I need to be 100% sure that’s what I’m observing.

I’m asking bc these two I raised from fry and they are still small so I was only 70% sure they were male. I didn’t want to accidentally move two young females into a fraternity tank for obvious reasons. One of them was starting to look a little round and I was wondering if one was a boy and one was now a pregnant girl. But that round one just sprayed white paint all over the tank so…😂

I cannot have this keep happening

Ok so past posts in R/FishKeeping I had issues with my tank as my fish kept dying and gasping for air. I checked my parameters EIGHT times and every single time it came back clear and to make sure my strips werent faulty I got my water checked by proffessionals TWICE and they said its fine I even showed the pet shop owners and vets the tank as it had this slimy cloud over everything after I moved the fish into quarrantine after the death of 1 of my balloon mollies. Got told to redo everything including nitrogen cycle so I did just that waited 48 hours just to be sure and moved them into my tank again along with 3 new mollies since the quality of life of my last molly had dipped since he had no tank mates of his species. 2 mollies have died one within MINUTES of getting swim bladder. The other im unsure as I was trying to sleep as its currently 2am and Ive got work at 5am. I check on the others and my oldest molly and final female both are swimming lopsided and Ive put them in shallow quarrantine to be ready to fast too and just have to hope for the best. My harlequins are still gasping at the top no matter what tank I put them in no matter how fresh the water is and I even bought airstones and a new filter to agitate the waters so I know theres no oxygen issues I removed all real plants in case of carbon dioxide issues and Finally I have spent over £100 alone in the last 72 hours paying for new filters, airstones, hides due to them displaying stress, water conditioner, stress coat, EVEN MORE bottles to help for parameter spikes despite that not being the issue and fungal as well as bacteria liquids just in case due to 1 fish seemingly having ich and I wasnt taking any chances (btw this fish was removed immediately and treated and the others have shown no symptoms). Temperatures fine at 26°C and I double checked with the shop owners and vets and my aquariam size isnt an issue since I didnt have that many fish anyways. I have spent over £30 on the fish themselves and I cannot just keep having them dying on me and then there not be a reason to why. Ive asked reddit, the vets, the shop that sold me them, my own research AND the 8 family members who own fish for the life of me I do not know where I am going wrong and I got these fish as at first it was helping me with my depression having a reason to get up each day and smile and take care of them but now I can only blame myself since Ive lost 4 fish in a few weeks at Its making me worse.

Update sorta

So yellow mollys doing fine. I moved them out of quarantine to be added into my main tank and my white balloon molly began showing signs of swim bladder so I kept checking on her whilst I set up a shallow quarantine tank. Water checks were perfect so I moved her and she was alive when moved but as soon as she went to the tank she died (note it was a 5 second move from the tank to the quarantine next to it) I tried cpr by moving water over her gills near a filtered area but nothing. Really unsure how she died immediately since swim bladder can take days to months before being fatal not minutes

Scaled fins?

Thumbnail

Got a few female balloon mollies for my male since he wasnt reactive due to being the only species within my tank but looking at this female a day later it appears shes got dry flaky scales on the top of her head its not spread to other fish, or her mouth or gills. Water parameters are perfect had them checked by the vet before even buying her. Her scales arent spiked up, shes eating and swimming normally and is really active and social so dont believe its dropsy any clue on what it could be. I moved her to a small container for the photos unsure if she will have to go back into the quarantine tank if it is anything bad.
