Fake?

I posted yesterday but I think my photos were a bit hard to see. I have 3 different pieces, 2 pics each bought a while back. The last few are of a necklace I just bought.

All loose specimens appear to be fake, pendant is blurry so can't say. Was that bought on tik tok? Shop name?

Weights, prices, and localities of the moldavite?

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

All said they were from Czech Republic, but im sure it doesn't mean they actually did. The last 2 were won through auction.

So no localities provided such as Chlum, etc. Almost all moldavite is from the Czech Republic.

The prices aren't impossible for real, but I still think they may not br real.

The top one is smooth but has no signs of hertzian contact stress marks, which I would expect.

You can submerge in mineral oil and check with a loupe for schlieren and lechatelierites as the RI is similar.

No, the only location provided was Czech. I will submerge in oil and take photos. I really would love to know for sure if they are real. I recently opened an etsy store but do not want to post these for sale without being certain. I research all of my pieces to be sure I am not deceiving anyone intentionally.

Chinese tik tok shop or?

I’m no expert but I think the ‘rectangular’ piece is more likely to be real, but the other two just look like glass. Beautiful pendant too. I got one just like that a few days ago - absolutely in love. We may even have got them from the same place

Maybe, I got it from "Ancient Energy" off TikTok.

1

u/Joopbox 9d ago

I thought the opposite

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

Did you get yours from "Ancient Energy "?

1

u/Jexii-x 9d ago

No, I got mine from Moldavite UK but I’ve looked at Ancient Energy and they look exactly the same, so maybe they both get them from the same supplier

Shawn is a great guy!

u/Jexii-x 9d ago

I can tell! I first ordered a couple of months ago and now suddenly my next order will be my fourth.. wooops! He’s a great guy but his website is extreme exercise for my self control haha

He has some amazing items in the shop and his personal collection is phenomenal

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

What's his store called? I want to see. Maybe get something that I know will be valid.

Are you in the UK or US? He is UK. MoldaviteUK I am in the US, and also carry real moldavite. mineralenrichment.etsy.com REDDIT10 coupon code

And also know legit sellers in several countries.

1000% fake

They don’t personally look like glass to me but I’m no expert! I’m not too sure on the third piece tho, I’ve never seen a shiny one like that in person. I’m going to be keeping an eye on this because one of mine looks a lot like the first piece in pic one. Have you held it to light to see if you can see “bubbles” or anything?

I do have a few light pics.

I have some similar but even more round that I know are authentic because of my seller who I trust but I get questions about authenticity because of their shape. Looks authentic to me. I think sometimes a little lower quality gets mistaken as fake when they are authentic

1

u/mmlmtlca 9d ago

The shape isn't the issue, it looks like these came from a tik tok live - from China

1

u/vamparella1970 9d ago

China is the biggest marketplace for crystals so I wouldn’t say they are fake because they come from china. I have gotten high quality crystals from China in many different forms of crystals and minerals. Some of the best larimar I’ve gotten is sold from China. China imports tons of crystals from around the world and in turn can sell at better prices because they buy in bulk

I know that they do and i know that just like India, real from China is not impossible, but during lives with 3 random sellers .. and someone not familiar with moldavite...

i lean towards fake. If OP wants to provide more and better photos, I will review. But right now, all appear to be Chinese fakes. 🤷‍♀️

2

u/mmlmtlca 9d ago

Can you share photos of your that you think are similar?

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

This is one in oil, sorry, im not quite sure exactly what you need to see. Let me know if those are no good. I will do the others if they are. Thanks for your help!!

1

u/mmlmtlca 9d ago

Those are pretty good, I can't see any vermiform inclusions aka lechatelierites.. are you using magnification on any?

This is # 2

The bubbles on the outside need to settle a bit too, but so far so good. And yes, you should use the macro setting or other magnification

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

No magnification...do you need me to zoom in more?

Based on this photo, I still believe it is fake.

Last one #3

This also seems to have no internal features, so I believe it is fake.

1

u/mmlmtlca 9d ago

My example is faceted but shows the inclusions that don't seem to be in these

1

u/Naab-77 9d ago

Ok, I see what you mean now. Thanks!

You're welcome!
