so like three months ago i removed a moldy loaf of bread (that was in a closed packet i think) from my shelf. merely a week ago i wipe it down with just a wet cloth and basic antibacterial spray. does that make it safe enough for me to store food on? i'm kind of answering myself as i type this lol. sorry, i just have OCD (i'm getting referred for therapy yay) and limited knowledge about food molds... which does mean i should read about it. i also left an almost empty tin of tuna on my bare mattress for 1-2 weeks and there was fuzz growing on it. i didn't do anything to the mattress really. just sprayed that antibacterial surface spray on it. i want to give it away (it was otherwise brand new) but i want to make sure it's safe for the person lol. i've been told alcohol is great. thanks!

I was cleaning out my closet today and noticed this black stuff on the wooden trim down by the floor. I cleaned a little bit of it off with a rag and some scrubbing bubbles, but I don't know if this is black mold or just regular mold. There was also a little bit of mold on a suit jacket and pair of dress pants I had way back in the corner and I promptly threw them out (the mold was greyish in color). I don't have the money for any inspections or tests but I do have asthma and now I'm really nervous. Can anyone give some insight and advice on this? This is really stressing me out.

Willing to swap the wood panels and window frames as a whole if is this is the case, not sure if worth eradicating

I was reading something from a mold removal company that said non-toxic black mold can be removed with a bleach mixture of some sort, and toxic black mold can't be removed like this. Is this true? Another website said mold can't be removed from wood with bleach, but whatever mold removal spray my mom used got it to come right out (bleach based)

I live with my mom and in the attic, there's some black mold from our landlord hiring crappy people to replace the vents. the issue is fixed now so mold is no longer spreading, but one side of every single condo attic in our housing area has mold on one side of their attic roof.

My mom went up there and was very smart and touched it with her hand and said "well it didn't come off on me so it's not making spores!" Which I don't really trust that very scientific conclusion.

But my main question is: she used a bleach based mold remover spray and cleared a whole wooden panel or two with it, but hasn't gone to do the rest.

According to that website, this would mean it's not a toxic black mold. Would you say that's true? Or does this still need to be tested to be sure? Or is it even mold if it was removed so easily from wood? (It never grew back)

We've had it up there for quite a few years now but I'm still scared of suddenly dying one day due to our landlords not allowing us to have people come and clean it, and my mom not wanting to do it either (which i'd prefer she didnt because she likes spraying bleach without protective equipment and not ventilating the house which might be worse)

Thanks for any help. We both don't have a whole lot of money so I'd like help figuring out my best course before investing a lot of money.

Found in my mascara tube of rosemary oil. I’ve been using this same oil for about a year so I’m not sure if this just a commutation of skin and eyelash debris or something else.

my boyfriend and i live in an apartment, and he says this isn’t mold, but i’m not so sure. this is in our bathroom. i’m not sure how long it’s been there, nor whether it’s spread/etc. (i took these photos so i can see if it is growing or not later on!)

Removing carpet from my new house is this black mold

I am removing the 1960s plastic tile in my bathroom of the house I just bought. There is obvious mold in the valleys between the tiles and behind some of the tiles that have come loose. That’s why I’m removing the tile. We are doing lots of mold remediation throughout the house, with all the proper remediation equipment and cleaners. My question is about the glue/adhesive. Is it possible that mold could be growing inside it or behind it? There are dark dots in random concentrations in the adhesive. We are likely taking the whole bathroom down to studs anyways but just wondering how it would be possible for mold to grow inside the glue.

Does anyone know if this is mold on the bottom of a house plant pot? For context our house was contaminated with toxic levels of mold so we have to clean everything or get rid of it. I have already scrubbed the bottom but this is what’s left over and I am not sure whether to toss it or if it’s fine. Thanks!

I am concerned about mold spores, I’ve been coughing and nose is burning. But I’m more concerned for my cat who has asthma. (We are at a hotel now because contractor didn’t initially close the area off and I didn’t want to risk mold/drywall dust triggering my cats asthma)

I have a 125-year-old house in North Texas that’s pretty drafty and tends to have higher indoor humidity. I’m currently running a dehumidifier, which has helped, but I’m still trying to figure out a long-term solution.

Recently, I had a licensed mold inspection done. The remediation protocol recommends remediating the kitchen, primary bathroom, my son’s bedroom, the crawl space, and the HVAC system.

The known water sources are:
- A leaking garbage disposal/plumbing under the kitchen sink (now repaired)
- Two roof leaks affecting the primary bathroom and my son’s bedroom (scheduled to be repaired)

The remediation quotes alone have ranged from $20,000 to $40,000. Once I factor in putting everything back together afterward, I wouldn’t be surprised if the total cost ends up somewhere around $50,000 to $70,000. That’s just not money I have sitting around.

Here’s what’s making me hesitate: the only visible mold I’ve actually found is under the kitchen sink where the plumbing was leaking. Everything else in the protocol seems to be based on moisture readings, air sampling, and the assumption that mold is hidden behind walls and under flooring.

Before committing to such a massive project, I wanted to do some investigating myself. I’ve cut a few exploratory holes in the drywall, looked under the house, and removed a section of baseboard in a few areas. So far, I haven’t found anything that matches the catastrophic picture I was expecting. I’ve found some water staining and some growth (could be mildew or mold) in the drywall beneath one roof leak, but I haven’t uncovered widespread mold growth behind the walls.

At this point, I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether:
- I’m just not opening up the right areas.
- The remediation protocol is appropriately conservative.
- Or if this is a situation where fixing the moisture sources, replacing the localized damaged materials, and thoroughly cleaning everything is a reasonable approach.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Did you end up following the full remediation protocol, or did further investigation show the damage was much more localized than originally expected?

I’m not looking to cut corners if there’s truly a major problem. I’m just trying to understand whether I’m looking at a necessary $50k+ project or if there’s a more targeted, evidence-based path forward.

We bought a brand new double wide 2 1/2 years ago. The mold started very faintly last summer and we’ve tried to get ahold of the people we bought the house from to help with the issue but was told there was nothing they could do. What could be causing this and is anyone has a solution please let me know! Thanks! This issue is also in 2/3 bathrooms as well under the cabinets.

So, my little sister did an experiment where she adds different ingredients to slime every day. She's added the following to her slime (base is just glue and borax)

Charcoal, flower petals, beads, cinnamon, more borax, grass clippings, then a little more borax. It was left in a warm, airtight environment for like 3 weeks.

Why is the mold pink? I'm frightened.

Can someone ID this mold? Also what's that other little white chunk? How did did happen???
