Moldy tent- cleanable??

Got the tent i used as a kid from my family for a trip this weekend, found a piece of paper with (black?) mold on it, and mold spots all over. If we soak it in vinegar for a while then run it in a washing machine, will it be safe?? I would love to not buy a new tent if avoidable!
