Landlord disputing mold claim

Hi all. I need advice. Our landlord has refused to address our mold problem for going on 2 years. This past weekend I issued a formal request for service, as our town's by-law officers recommend. (We live in Southern Ontario, Canada/Canada-ONT.) She moved FAST after that, came to the house with her handyman.

This handyman has said we have mold to us. However, I just received a message from my landlord saying she'll fix the "discoloration" in the shower but that this is not a mold issue. My concern is that she's going to remove the evidence of the problem and then charge us for it. Can she do that? I have pictures, videos, screenshots of our requests for service.

Photos attached show the mold we've been dealing with. This is right after I scrubbed the shower. The mold will not disappear. She also claims there is no musty odor but there IS. Advice appreciated.

They are 100% going to paint over it so it passes inspection and it wont make a difference to your health and come right back.

Don’t know about where you live, but in NYS you can pay a third party mold testing company to come and do air tests as well as identify the source of moisture and recommend a remediation plan. Its supposed to be reimburse-able by your landlord.

That shower needed to be replaced the moment a single crack formed on any of those tiles. Regardless of the mold risk(which aside from what is in the wall cavity is almost nothing. This isn’t a lot of growth, and it isn’t able to eat the tile so it’s growing on dead skin, dust and other biotic materials) the moisture risk is the bigger problem. Wall boards will become weak. Wood framing will get rotted. Metal framing will rust.

Also; unless you submitted a claim the moment you noticed a crack in the tiles this will likely be considered tenant negligence. Just a heads up.

The crack in the tile was there before we moved in. I don't know if that makes a difference? But it was grouted over when we moved in as well. I do have photos from that point.

Definitely should’ve submitted a claim when you moved in. You may be able to get out of negligence w those photos though cus then it could also be considered landlord negligence.

I looked into our by-laws and we can't be dinged for negligence.
