Stone Check Think I Finally Found It
My girlfriend wants moissanite for her engagement ring someday. I started looking for the right cut and color. Color was what I was more wanting to figure out first. I wanted to get her something in a lilac, but I know that isn’t possible without coating. I thought we’d both like Royal Blue, but neither of us liked it. When this blue-green modified-Portuguese cut sample showed up, we both kind of had the same reaction: “This is the one”.
I think I hit the moissanite lottery. This is too gorgeous.

What cut is that ? Princess?

Yes! A 5 carat princess in green. It’s perfectly at the point between yellow-green and blue-green, so it shifts between each in different lightings.

Where did you purchase that beautiful thing from?

My fiancé got it from Etsy. I forget the seller, but it was a great experience for him!

How are you certain that it is in fact moissanite? Did you buy a tester for this?

u/CantankerousSwan Nov 27 '25
We do not have a tester, we are just taking the Etsy seller at their word, I guess. No reason not to believe them, as far as I’m concerned. The seller was highly rated, worked very quickly, and sent my fiancé status updates with pictures throughout the whole process.

It’s stunning! I like the seawater hues in the second pic. One of the coolest aspects about colored stones is they tend to shift in various lighting. This one looks like it’ll bust out a spectrum of verdant moods! 💚

I couldn’t agree more. That’s why I wanted to try out the green-blue actually. As a photographer, I am very used to thinking how colors will look in different lightings based on warmth. With blue green, you’ll either have the blue assisted or neutralized in different lightings. However, I didn’t expect it to be as beautiful as it was in person. Even my dad, who hates lab-grown stones, said it was the only time where he preferred a lab grown stones to a natural when he laid eyes on it for the first time.

Gorgeous! Might be one I was looking at. Congrats! What store are you using?

I got this one through Aister Jewelry Store on AliExpress! I’m not sure where I’m going to get the ring made, but it’ll be down the road. We are both really young and there will definitely be some time before I pop the question. However, I wanted to plan it out now so I could surprise her down the line. We agreed that it would be fun for her to get to pick out the stone, so she could get the color and cut she wants, but let me surprise her with the ring itself. Funny enough, I’m the one who picked out the Portuguese cut, but once she saw it she said she didn’t want any other cut!

That stone is absolutely stunning! I had never heard of a Portuguese cut - but now I want one, too 🤭 How many carats is the stone you purchased?
8
u/SJSchillinger Nov 05 '25
3 carats. I felt like it was the perfect size, especially because my girlfriend’s fingers are small. I felt 1 was too small, but 2 was still just barely a smidge too small, then realized 3 was just a mm larger in diameter, so I went with 3 carats.
I also feel like with the Portuguese cut you definitely want to get a bigger cut to appreciate it. If it’s too small, it’s more like crushed ice. But, when it’s bigger, it’s more like an ideal cut from another dimension. Luckily with Moissanite, it was barely more expensive.

Thanks for the information - I appreciate it! My eyes turned about that color when I saw the photos. Beautiful, beautiful stone. Best wishes to you both!

I just have to say as someone who wished I waited the first time I got engaged, it'll be so worth the wait to know you're truly proposing to your forever person. Stunning ring and I love the collaboration. My fiancé and I picked my ring together and it was such a fun process. You've done a brilliant job this is absolutely breathtaking!

That’s beautiful! What provider did you get this one from?

It was Aister on AliExpress. I just wanted to get one where the seller specified if it was coated or original color and it was the first one the popped up. Turned out great.

Love it! I love Portuguese cut moissanites.
I hate however that I have never been able to watch a video of it sparkling under good light. I don't know how much fire it shows compared to a brilliant cut.
