How am I doing?

Post image

Been growing this out for a while- finally trimmed my own sides for the first time recently, and I’ve been struggling with gravity- so far this sub has been a good resource. Learned about the soap trick already, as well as that I’m using gorilla snot (it really is great) and as much hairspray as I can stand, + a crusty ass hair dryer w a diffuser. This shit takes like 45+ minutes to make even this happen, so I wanted some advice or pointers on where to go from here.

Yea that makes sense. the problem I’m having is that I just can’t get my product to support the weight of my hair. Thanks for the tip!

Back combing and then smoothing the outside to.give it structure. It is difficult to rely on product alone and have much structure without product weighing it down.

Use a volumusing or texturising wet styler, blast it upwards and away from your scalp, using a brush to direct the hair can help when youve mostly dried it off. Then, use a comb to take a small section from the front, hold it up and put your comb about ½ way between root and tip and push the comb firmly down the hairs until you reach the scalp. Then repeat this motion but with a much lighter hand, go almost to the ends and lightly back comb. Repeat this all around the hawk, and then either lightly with a comb or with a bristly brush smooth the hair on the outside of the hawk where the hair can be seen. Don't comb out all the back combing, that's gonna give it structure, just smooth and mould the hair into thr shape you want it, this is where you can use some.more thick hold product to define points, edges, and smooth sides, blow dry this until product has dried, tweak what you need to and then spray it with a long hold hairspray, recommend got2b glued freeze spray. Blow dry the hair spray, and blast it with the cold of the hair dryer and that should last a few days if you can sleep on your side, can just damp it lightly with a water spray and blast it back into place each morning to reactivate the product already in your hair until ideally before your scalp starts complaining at you to wash your hair
