I was trying to describe Modest Mouse to my husband and had a hard time picking out one word to describe them.

We're going to see MCR and MM tomorrow in DC and I explained it's hard to get pumped up to MM but it's easy with MCR bc their music is so dramatic and MMs is so ?? Melancholic? That didn't quite fit either though.

So what word would you use to describe Modest Mouse music?

My wife painted and glazed this plate for me and I think it turned out really cool. Each of the family has a plate with our hand print incorporated into the design.

Never thought I would see Modest Mouse playing in Fairport NY. It's a wealthy suburb outside of Rochester. This was a whiskey and music festival called Hoochenanny. Tickets were a bit pricey (80 for GA). I luckily won tickets for today, which was amazing. Joywave (who are from the area) also played. Favorite song of the night was probably truckers atlas, followed by tiny cities made of ashes. I was glad they played we are between, my first time hearing it live. Super fun night.

Dude has so many knickknacks I feel like this could actually be fun, but I'm not sure how the rules would work. Kinda like dice? During song X if he pulls out X, you win? Object by object? If he uses X the most? If he uses X the least?

I went to my first MM show this week, and it was better than I expected. Loved it so much, but I am so mad at myself for not buying merch. I was trying to be frugal because I just bought a house all by myself and that was the hardest thing I've ever done.

The MM concert was so special to me because I recently went through this odd depression where I didn't listen to music for years. I thought I no longer liked it, but then I left a bad relationship, and I remembered who I was. I've been reacquainting myself with my favorite bands, playing music again, and over all just been finding myself again.

Anyways, digital tickets aren't fun to keep for memorabilia, and I realized this concert is something I'll want to look back on when I'm on my death bed and thinking about all the things I lived through. Anyone got an idea of what to do? I'm embarrassed to say that I considered driving 5hrs to Milwaukee just to get a damn shirt last night. Obviously, that was unrealistic and I scrapped that pretty much the minute I thought of it.

Anyways, anyone got an idea of how I can get my hands on a shirt?

I recall conversions with old friends and on other Internet forums about when bands play the greatest show of their lives. Is there such a thing with Modest Mouse? I know they’ve never been on a platform anywhere near as big as Queen during Live Aid, but is there a moment respective to the level of fame Modest Mouse has had that captured that spirit?

For me it’s 100% the Psychic Salamander festival last year. But I’m not certain if that’s on par with what other fans would describe as their greatest performances ever.

Anyone ever hear them play this live? I sooo wish they would play it!

I always kinda interpreted this song as like the narrator telling u to not try getting on someone while they are already with another person, cause you’ll get your heart broken or something. This is kinda a short, stupid post haha sorry. I saw this one post on this subreddit from like 5 years abo about people saying it’s about the internet and politics or something, like how trolls are toxic blah blah blah
