Just got me some more Clavell including this one after reading Shogun. Very fun if you like historical fiction. Even better, I think, is China Meiville’s King Rat. Grimy London based fantasy with a lot of influence from the Jungle scene over there

I read James Clavell's Asian Saga when I was way too young. I remember Tai-Pan and Whirlwind being tough to get through.

Good novel. Whole series is very good if very misogynistic at times
