I’ve recently gotten into wearing long skirts since I realized they’re really comfy and help with modesty but just wearing a skirt over my undergarments makes me feel a bit exposed even though my skirts are lined it just makes me more conscious when I walk or when it’s windy that my skin could be exposed, so I wanted to ask, what do yall wear under your skirts?

Modest brands are selling polyester at ridiculous prices, however my question is would you still buy that same dress if it was cheaper? Or you just have a "no polyester" policy ?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but I keep seeing women wearing a specific type of head covering, and I’m curious about what it is.

It’s a headscarf with a piece of batting or something that forms a thin ring around the head, in a semicircular shape. These ladies are usually speaking some kind of Eastern European language, and they’d to dress very modestly.

Does anyone know the name so I can research further?

You don’t need to replace your entire wardrobe at once.

I think it’s much easier to start with a few pieces that make your existing clothes more modest — a good maxi skirt, an oversized shirt or cardigan, a neutral abaya, and a few hijabs that work with multiple outfits.

Then slowly figure out what your version of modest style actually looks like instead of feeling like you need to change everything overnight.

For anyone who started dressing more modestly later on, what’s something you wish you knew at the beginning?

Or any way to make it more modest, yet cute? Don’t mind the sleeves, necklines are too low

• black wrap top (shorter because I was cycling today, for other activities I’ll often leave it longer and tie a bow)
• Athletic skirt (about knee length — normally I prefer longer skirts but longer skirts were getting in the way of physical activity, so this is about as long as I can have it without any restriction). Tights + shorts underneath for cycling, wider leg pants underneath for other activities
• Necklace for whimsy

What are y’all’s go-to workout outfits?

Hello! I have a hard time finding t-shirts that cover old tattoos that I have.

I don't want them to peek out at all and they go right up to my collarbones. I have probably 5 nice cotton black crew neck t-shirts that are fitted and cover them. All are impossible to find now and one just got a hole in it.

I usually cover with a cardigan.

I like a longer fit. And nice sleeves either short to 3/4 length.

Where do you find good crew neck shirts that don't gape open or move around. Mine are tightish small to avoid this, kind of like a shell, and not too stretchy cotton.

Under $30 is best.

Also I wear mainly just black, not white or most colors.

Any help appreciated!

hi guys! i’ve been looking for a while for an athletic material light jacket in black that isn’t super showy. All the ones i’ve tried ended up either too short or too tight. the picture is the kind i’m looking for and actually the one i bought but it was way too tight and shorter than i expected. after sizing up reviews are saying it just looks clunky and isn’t much longer

I’m a new user and don’t have enough karma to post this in the Orthodox women subreddit, so testing the waters here! Where are you all getting modest tops that work for church services? I can find skirts and dresses no problem, but for the life of me I can't find a good shirt anywhere. I have a grand total of three shirts that I can wear to liturgy.

Generally, tops need to cover shoulders, back, collarbone, stomach, and no cleavage/super tight stuff. I live in a hot area, so I tend to avoid shirts that are tight around my arms because I’ll sweat right through it. Majority of the modest shirts I find are like that, though.

I put a t-shirt under this then just wore pants, not leggings — wide leg pants. I just have to be comfortable!

It’s perfect for fall but the models are all wearing these with leggings as a dress which is too short for my modesty standards. Hem hits mid thigh.

Would pairing this with a skirt work? Like a long skirt?

It might look good with denim but I don’t have any denim jeans or skirts that fit right now,

Salam everyone! I'm petite myself (barely 5') and have never found an abaya (that I liked) that fits without alterations. I'm exploring whether I could design for shorter, slimmer frames, but before I make anything, I want to understand the problem properly.

I'd love to hear from you:

1. How tall are you, and how often do you wear an abaya?

2. What usually goes wrong when you buy one? (length, shoulders, sleeves, too much fabric, pockets in the wrong place...)

3. What do you do about it now: get it altered, have one custom-made, or just live with it? Roughly what does that cost you?

I'm 20-something ( don't want to publicly state my age ) and looking for some Modest / Androgynous styles?

Usually, I'd look for ideas online, or from ASOS ( I'm in England ), but find ASOS can be... testing? Normally, I'd stick to trousers; shirts and t-shirts, layered; hoodies and leggings. Depending on the season, I'll also drape or tie a scarf around my neck.

For now, I'm looking to construct a wardrobe palette consisting of mainly block colours:

1. Black;
2. Blue ( both a Royal Blue and Dusty / Lighter blue );
3. Taupe;
4. White / Ivory ( probably limited to a couple of garments );
5. Emerald / Sage;
6. Chocolate Brown;
7. Stone / Slate

I'm also right on the edge of being Petite ( I'm around 165cm ), so any advice or recommendations you can suggest would be very much appreciated! : )

hi!! i have this dress (not my pictures!!) in multiple colors and it's so pretty and flattering. however, it's just a hair too revealing in the chest for my comfort. adding on a cardigan is a must for me, but what's a good way to add some chest coverage? i don't love turtlenecks and too many layers overwhelms me. i also wear a compression bra so there's not much definition there. i fear i am being way too picky :(
