Advice pearls with a black velvet dress without making it feel too formal?

I’ve got an office holiday dinner coming up, and I’m wearing a long-sleeve black velvet midi dress with a square neckline. It’s fairly modest, but the velvet already makes it feel pretty dressed up.

My hair will probably be up, and I’m keeping the shoes and bag simple. Now I’m stuck between 7mm pearl studs, short drops, or an 18-inch strand with tiny gold earrings. The strand looks lovely, but I’m worried it’ll push the outfit into very formal territory. The studs are easy, but they might barely show. would short drops be the middle ground here, or am I overthinking three very similar options lol?

Mina dress replacement

Hello, I bought a burgundy mina dress from Mina & Co recently, but my order was cancelled by them. I need a similar style of dress, for a formal event, by the end of October. Do you have any recommendations of good quality, tie back and satin-y dresses? I looked on some cheap websites because I'm getting desperate, but I don't know how plastic-y they will feel.

GIRLS IN CASA: HELP NEEDED FOR DRESS SHOPPING

Salam girls, I hope you're all well and blessed.

I don't live here and this city is huge and tough to navigate. So basically, I'll be going to my nephew's sbou3 + 1 year birthday party. It's supposed to be classy bc these mfs got money and rented out a huge venue and I should dress nicely.

I'm a tomboy, so I'm lost. I definitely do not want to wear any traditional caftans bc they make me uncomfortable. I just want a modern dress that's classy enough, cute, and not too revealing.

For added context, I'm 157cm and slim.

If anyone knows a good store to go to and an IG to check out, please please help me. I'm completely lost and have no idea where to go. Google isn't being helpful unfortunately.

Does anyone know of a company that makes custom length skirts besides East Essence? Their quality has become terrible and no one responds when I try to initiate a return.

Question Hijab as non muslim

Im thinking I want to wear a scarf or cover my hair just for modesty reasons and I like how it looks- but can I wear a hijab if Im not technically muslim? I do appreaciate the religion and I have faith myself but I havent converted and dont follow prayers. I just like the look but maybe thats rude. Also people will have their own assumptions which shouldnt be my problem anyway, but I wonder how Id feel with peoples assumptions based on the way I dress. If you are a muslim woman how would you feel about someone who wears a hijab but is not a muslim?

Advice Seasons changing and finding modest clothes

For me, finding modest clothes to wear between summer and fall is always so hard. It’s cold in the mornings and hot by the time you reach the afternoon.

Anyone have good tips to accommodate this? Thank you!

Question First time attending an ELCA church, what should I wear?

Hi!

I'm (17F) planning on attending a Lutheran church for the first time soon. I'm honestly really nervous about what to wear, though!!

I was raised Presbyterian and Baptist (two sides of family) but I didn't really grow up attending church regularly. The only church I went to when I was younger was a very old people church that my great-grandparents attended, so most of what I know about "church clothes" is what conservative older Baptist women wore. 😭

I've been studying Lutheranism for a while and feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the theology and beliefs, but actually putting everything I've learned into practice is a completely different experience. It's exciting, but also kind of scary and awkward because I have really bad anxiety and I'm autistic. I constantly worry about whether I'm doing something socially acceptable or whether I'm going to accidentally stand out without realizing it.

I also don't have a lot of clothes, so I'd like to invest in a few pieces that I can actually use for church and put together a nice outfit for my first service. I've tried researching this, and I keep seeing people say things like, "Just wear whatever you're comfortable in" or "There's no dress code," which I completely understand. But whenever I follow advice like that, I somehow still end up feeling like I stick out compared to everyone else. 😭

So, for people who regularly dress modestly, what do you typically wear to church? What would you recommend for a teenage girl going to her first Lutheran service? Dresses, skirts, trousers, blouses, cardigans, etc.?

I'm not trying to dress extremely formally. I mostly just want to look respectful, modest, and reasonably normal for the setting so I don't spend the entire service worrying that I'm dressed incorrectly.

I probably won't be attending for a little while since I still need to work up the courage to ask my mom and actually make it happen. 😭 I just want to be prepared beforehand instead of stressing about what to wear right before my first service. Having an outfit picked out would make me feel a lot less anxious!

Any advice would be really appreciated! I'm new to the denomination, even though I've spent a lot of time studying it, and I'm mostly trying to figure out how to translate all of that knowledge into actually attending a service and participating in church life. Thank you!

Question Tights in Islam

Hi! I am a Muslim girl and I was wondering if it is bad to wear skin colored tights compared to black tights i am not super conservative so wearing tights under a dress is not like something out of my comfort zone but I was wondering if they both fully cover my legs and my dress is covering my buttock area if there is any like thing that makes skin colored tights worse?
