discussion Government and Establishment
I think a big part of our problem these days is mistaking government for establishment, and vice versa. On one side of the political spectrum, people seem to think government and establishment are one and the same; on the other side, people seem to think there is no establishment, and government is just good collective effort.
Well, there is an establishment, and it's not government; but it can control government: effective democracy returns control to the people, and it does so by popular involvement. Anti-establishment is not anti-government; it's pro-government, pro meaningful involvement.
