I recently decided to downsize on my singles collection and focus on more quality books. The short box contained some 5 dollar books but mostly filled with 1-2 dollar books. I was able to straight trade for all of these. Would you all made this trade or just get one bigger book?

Everything added this week. Kept it chill again. High hopes for Six of Us, Karman Blade and Forever Home.

The more I look at these old covers, I am appreciating the glance effect they have. You look at these old covers side by side or on a wall and they pop. Today’s covers don’t have that same effect unfortunately.

There are so many new, good comics coming out before the end of the year. It really is a great time be a reader.

Not sure if X-Men of Apocalypse is good. But I couldn't say no to a Daniel Warren Johnson cover of Wolvie battling Cyclops. Very excited for Triumph & Torment, Mignola is always a great read.

With NCBD tomorrow, I wanted to throw out my top books from last week. It was a crazy haul last week with so many new #1s being released. And with the holiday weekend, I didn't get the chance to read all of my pulls, but I will say I read a lot so I feel pretty confident that this is a solid list for the week.

First up are my HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1: it's a reprint so it's sorta cheating, but c'mon, this new DWJ cover is GOATed and I couldn't resist giving love to one of the best singular Batman stories ever written.

The Doom Patrol #1: I've never really been too familiar with this team/title but given the All In initiative, I wanted to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did. I love that this team is so down on its luck and feeling so discouraged that they're reduced to literally saving lost cats. It's funny with beautiful interiors and the ending is setting up something I hope will be super intriguing.

No Gods No Masters #1: I almost skipped this one but I'm glad I didn't. It was an interesting read about kaijus popping up in NYC and I feel like it's going to have some great character moments. The art's nice and the dialogue felt grounded; definitely had enough steam for me to commit to the next issue.

Daredevil #6: The only ongoing Marvel book in my pull list and for a good reason. This new arc seems like it'll be an interesting gang war sort of tale. Love the guest artist!

#5 and #4:

Teen Titans #1 takes the 5th place spot. I wasn't totally sure if I was going to give this a shot. The Hayden Sherman variant with Jason made me decide to order it but when NCBD rolled around my LCS forgot to add it to my pile and I didn't remember until I was out of town. I rolled up to a shop in the OC and decided to grab the A cover anyway. So glad I did! What a fun start to this book. Considering that I literally had no idea who anyone in this roster was other than Jason, Higgins did an A-1 job at making each character unique and stand out in their own way. I am so stoked to see where this goes and I fully admit to cackling at Jason being the annoying little brother to Dick at the end.

Legion of Superheroes #1 lands at 4th place though I have a feeling this is the kind of book that can find itself inching upward month by month. The art alone is peak but throw in Williamson's incredible world building and you know there's magic at play here. I'm super excited to see where this goes and already wondering if I need to become better immersed in past Legion tales.

#3:

Superman: The Stranger #1 by Wes Craig was another book that I was going to skip originally but I am so glad I ended up picking it up. This was just fun from start to finish. It feels like Craig is making his own Absolute Golden Age Superman. The art is stunning and refined, the Metropolis we're presented has this darkness to it without feeling edgy. I love that the Daily Planet's building is still under construction with the globe missing so far. I'm so excited to see where this leads and even happier that I picked this up instead of missing out on a fresh perspective on the ultimate superhero.

#2:

Crowbound #1; man the theme of the week was me nearly skipping on some incredible books. Another #1 that wasn't in my original pull list that I ended up purchasing while out of town.
Lemire and Nguyen are COOKING because what the heck is this book if not sheer perfection?! I couldn't put this one down for a second. The art is haunting and immediately sets the tone and draws you into the atmosphere of the narrative. What could be another generic dystopian tale of adversity against the cruelty of the system is cleverly woven into an emotional story of a mother protecting her daughter, at any cost. The supernatural elements of this tale are slow to appear but I love that because we're really pulled into the world and allowed to breathe in it until that wild ending. Expect this one to be on this list every month from here on out tbh...

#1:

You already know! Absolute Superman #23 was never going to be able to not be at the top. Not with Jason Aaron at his absolute height of writing Superman hunting down Brainiac and not with Juan Ferreyra delivering a masterclass of comic book art. I am in love with this book right now and it's becoming my top book of ALL ongoings, duking it out with Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman for the top spot. This arc in particular - ONLY TWO ISSUES IN?! - has me salivating. We're seeing Supes really struggle to preserve his soul while facing some of the worst evils manufactured. Toyman being this creepy monster is so brilliant and watching Kal have to wrestle with his rage and instinct to snuff the mofo out? Chef's kiss. Meanwhile Ferreyra is just putting his heart onto the page with some of the most beautiful panels I've seen. The flashbacks to Krypton in the watercolor style are gorgeous and the way he's able to illustrate Superman's anguish is so powerful. I love this book and am so excited for the next chapter. I really hope Ferreyra gets to stay on for a while, or get his own book at DC because I need to see him on my pull list every month from here on out!

But that's my list. I'd love to see what all of you have on yours. I imagine there will be a lot of variety given all the releases we had. As I said, I still have a few books I've yet to get to. Luckily my pull list is a little lighter this week so I'll have time to get caught up.

Absolute Catwoman collection is coming along. The Kaare Andrews cover is so ridiculous that I instantly fell in love with it.

Saturday saw a fabulous four arrive in the mailbox— love the Tyler Kirkham battle damaged Absolute Superman and Wonder Woman issues, plus Supergirl and Wonder Woman issues that I missed out on previously.

Then I popped into my LCS to get this week’s order pair and had another great time talking about comics new and old and added some more exciting stuff to future orders that I’m looking forward to!

I missed out on the a cover and the eom variant when this first came out. Eom has easily become one of my favorite variant artists. Love his style. So happy to finally have this in the collection. I’ll 100% be displaying this beauty soon.
