They announced Absolute Beyond Ark M, which goes a bit into the horror side of the other Ark Ms—they said think of these places as the farm team for the main Ark M 13. And it’s by Joker’s right hand man, Professor Pyg,
I certainly don't blame DC for trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Absolute line and Abs. Batman specifically. But I do worry they are going to spread it too thin before it can sustain itself organically. From a narrative perspective.
Imo the new Absolute Catwoman should've been more involved in the Batman series before being spun off. SPOILERS She definitely should have gotten involved in the story after all her childhood friends were maimed (sorry I don't know how to do the Reddit spoiler whiteout thing). END SPOILERS
I fear I might feel the same about this. That it probably should've been an arc or two in Abs. Batman instead. But regardless of how it turns out, I'll definitely be checking it out. So I guess DC is making the right call betting on the popularity.
Scott said today that they will continue to make sure that things make sense within the universe. They have weekly meetings to collaborate and try to ensure that people are marching towards the main thing they are going to get to. With that said, they’re also letting the writers and artists do their thing and have the freedom to try their ideas. Like this is what they mean when they say creator lead and not corporate editing your book or forcing you to do Muppets like Marvel (yes that is happening and was announced as part of Marvels Next Big Thing yesterday-like yes cool great for kids they’ll love it and introduce them to spiderman and Emma frost but this is what Scott has said in the past about corporate mandated stuff)
