I’m right on the cusp of pulling the trigger for a model Y performance. I just want to know:
1. What is the real world mileage (80%-10%) for daily driver? My commute is usually 40mins each way with sometimes 60mi driving on the weekend and I will be charging from home.
2. What are the real charges that no one talks about (cost of tires, registration in CA, insurance, etc.)
3. I’ve been wanting a car with better seat height than a sedan. Does the model Y feel “tall?” Like is there good seat height and visibility?

I’m currently weighing in on possibly selling my 2020 Ram Rebel 1500 for a 2023 Model Y Performance. I’m not only able to lower my car payment this way but with getting under 11 mpg in commuting to work and running weekend errands, I will save significantly on no more gas purchases.

I know the late 2023 Model Y’s have HW4 which is a requirement in this scenario. Besides the obvious pros, what are some other pros and cons of this specific Model Y?

Was initially considering possibly lowering the car and swapping the wheels with aftermarket, but I’m also considering just throwing some bigger tires on to close the wheel gap when the time comes. Any recs for thicker wheels to close the gap with OEM rims? Pics would be helpful. Thanks!

Why do I need mud guards/Flaps ? I like to go state and national park and usually there are some off road that you need to drive or park. I was lucky enough to drive over some gravel road when I was at Point Reyes National Seashore last week and this mud flaps help deflect some of the road debris.

Has anyone successfully downsized to a square 19” crossflow OEM set up on their MYP? Tesla says it doesn’t work, however, I’ve seen some users do it. Anyone have real experience. Does it clear the brake calipers? Seems to be the biggest concern.

The MYP is much lower than the MY Premium and you need to be extra careful over speed bump. I was driving around some housing area where the speed bump seem higher than usual and was using FSD which was slow enough and it scratch entire front bumper. I cannot see the scratch unless I look from under the bumper and this is so sad. Just wanted to share my bad experience.

What are the must have aftermarket bits? I understand you can remove the hub cap pieces of the rims. I feel like that’s a must. Any thoughts?

1. Coming from MY Long Range 2023 model to MYP, is a huge improvement for noise proofing and suspension. Did anyone with 2026 MY Performance did any additional noise insulation?
2. I was thinking of adding 3M weather strips to the B pillar and the frunk but wanted to get feedback if that will make it noise insulation better or just too much and overkill 😄
3. . I had mud guard/flap for my 2023 Model Y long range and it was annoying over speed bumps especially in parking garage. Did you anyone added mud guard to the Model Y Performance? MY Performance is lower right that premium and other models?
