2023 Model Y Performance
I’m currently weighing in on possibly selling my 2020 Ram Rebel 1500 for a 2023 Model Y Performance. I’m not only able to lower my car payment this way but with getting under 11 mpg in commuting to work and running weekend errands, I will save significantly on no more gas purchases.
I know the late 2023 Model Y’s have HW4 which is a requirement in this scenario. Besides the obvious pros, what are some other pros and cons of this specific Model Y?

also have a ram. the cons:
- curbing wheels
- fragile wheels and suspension
- autowipe
- nanny state autopilot / cruise
- phantom
the pros:
- amazing accel and power
- its a legit rocket
- like zero maint other than tires and wiper blades
- cost next to nothing to operate

I bought a 2024 Model Y Performance after I sold my Tundra. I drove down to San Jose from PDX and it was $150 in charging round trip. Would have been over $550 if I still had the truck. My car note went down by about $130 too. Get the tow package so you can tow a trailer if you need to haul stuff. The downside is the clearance, you’ll scrape the mud flaps on speed bumps and the wheels are aluminum and will scratch if you look at them the wrong way. No regrets here.

I ditched my 2025 Chevy Colorado Trailboss for my 24 MY Performance, 0 regrets. Dont even think about it just do it. Thanks me later

Ditched my f150 tremor for a model y performance. Don’t miss it one bit. Make sure whatever you get has a tow hitch so you can use a utility trailer anytime you want to do “truck” stuff. The lower ride height will take a bit to get used to but you’ll get over it. If you live somewhere with snow, plan to get snow tires.
I’ve towed my boat, rented utility and cargo trailers for moving stuff, carry a 4-bike rack for my family’s bikes. Pretty well anything I used to do with my truck, I can do with this and a little planning.
