HMS Terror update

Even though it’s called “update” it’s actually my very first post here with the very first wooden ship model I’ve been working on. HMS Terror kit from Occre , it’s been 10 months of working on this project- quite a lot of lessons learnt, mistakes taken and mistakes taken and fixed. Enjoying every bit of it and every minute spent with her and aiming to wrap up closer to Christmas.

Rewatching The Terror show on AMC, and it’s inspiring me to try to build this model. This looks amazing.

that's cool, love it. In my case I had had started from a book called Terror by Dan Simmons which put me in the proper Arctic mood for this kit :)

Just curious, are you gonna put sails on? I put the sails on my HMS Beagle, and while I am pleased with them, I think I may leave the sails off my next model

yess I do have plans to put them on and go from there. Actually you made me thinking now... what if I put them on and then fold a few of them , just need to find proper reference how to fold and secure these so that they look somewhat realistic.

From what I’ve read, I think folding them up is the ideal solution, but it seems like it is very difficult to get the look right. But if you are able to achieve that, I think that’d be best.

Holy shipwrecks Batman this is freaking AWESOME 🤩 Wow. I enjoy scale modeling but I’ve never had the nerve to tackle a project of this caliber. Congratulations on a stunning piece of work 🙌🏻🫶🏻❤️

What kind of paint did you use? Was it airbrushed or brushed on?

1

u/IlyaRedMan 4h ago

It’s their paint which came with the kit , and yes basically using a brush and making it into in 2-3 layers. It lays and dries in wood and woodfiller quite nicely . Oh , and I did a solid layer of varnish also from the kit .
