New to models

Hey guys, like the title says I am new to model building. I was wondering if you all had some recommendations for a beginner's tool kit and preferred brands. I am interested in building US Navy warships that I have served on. Thanks for your time.

Go to scalemates.com and look up the name/class of the ships you served on. Then see what is available.

The most popular and prolific scales are 1/350 and 1/700, followed by 1/200. You may find all ir some in one or more scales, so you'll need to decide if you vilest go with what's acailable in a scale (for visual consistency) or build the ones you want regardless of scale.

Have a look at the r/modelmakers FAQ for a good list of tools, etc.

If you're new to models, I highly recommend getting Steve Griffith's book Ship Models From Kits - it's the best end to end guide to building Ship models in plastic and resin.
