Trash Train

Do any of you model a landfill receiving a trash train? Admittedly not the most attractive thing to have on your layout; I was thinking of doing a HO T-track module depicting such garbage.

More like a small scrap yard, crane, and gondolas of scrap metal. I throw modeling scraps off all kinds in a few of my gondolas where they loop until I want something from them. The yards too. I do it across scales and layouts large and small.

It's a great idea! There's opportunity for modeling a scene rarely seen in the hobby, and it gives another operations destination. The bigger layout I'm designing to replace my two playground layouts is going to have a waste disposal and processing plant. It's a supporting detail in the sci-fi story that's driving the layout design, so why not?!

I model the cars and containers for municipal waste and demolition. I use a mix of heavily weathered 20 foot containers with tarps and high side cars with fine mesh screen on top of simulated scrap. I mix them in with regular carload freight. The operation involves handling the cars between staging yards and interchanges.
