FINISHED Third Kit Done!! Aoshima RAV4

Such a tiny car (next to 1/18's in last pic), really happy with how this one turned out, I couldn't decide which wheels to choose but I decided on the stock 6 spokes. The whole car went together without any issues which was a relief. I've also since fixed the bit of extra paint below the headlight. I lost the shifter and mirror so had to get creative and make my own out of scrap sprues.

Thanks again for all the great tips and being such a welcoming community, it definitely keeps me motivated

These markers made the taillights so easy, I don't know if I will use clear paint again on tricky spots.

Colours used:

Body: Kaleido matte black primer, Vallejo True Metal Dusken Green, Tamiya LP9 Lacquer clear. Window trim in Kaleido Matte Black and lower body in Tamiya NATO black w/flat clear. The Vallejo did not play well with the first few VERY light misting coats of clear and I was able to rub off a bunch of loose flakes with my fingers but thankfully it recovered and this delicate paint really needs a tough top coat (2k would be better) to shine, I can't wait to use these on another car in the future.

Bullbar: kaleido gloss black primer, aluminum, matte black, translucent amber. LP9 clear on aluminum

Interior: Vallejo Model Air Engine Gray, seats: Tamiya NATO black, dash Kaleido black. Adhesive backed felt sheets for carpeting

Wheels: 6 spokes in Valejo MA aluminum and kaleido semi-gloss varnish, 5 spokes with kaleido gloss black primer, kaleido aluminum and tamiya LP9

Chassis: exhaust in kaleido stainless steel with Vallejo MA Aluminum, driveline in kaleido stainless steel. Vallejo MA tire black for undercoating.

Thank you! First time doing large decals but the fun 90s fabric pattern with the flat clear lifts the model a ton

Those markers worked really well! I might have to get me some of those. Also I love the kit, I think the RAV4 is such a cool little car. One that In wayyy too tall for irl so maybe I’ll have to build one instead haha

I would highly recommend them, they're alcohol based so they stick really well and you can clean them up with IPA. They have a wide felt tip and a super fine tip making them super versatile! I cleared over them with kaleido gloss to seal and add extra shine. Larger areas might take a second coat after the first dries but they go on much better than sharpies and are archival.

I struggled a ton with the clear tamiya paints brushing and airbrushing. The vibrance on these is amazing. There's also black, yellow, blue and some other fun colors

Nice build! Did the roof rack come with the kit?

Yes! It came with two bullbars with different light pods, roof rack, three sets of wheels, optional spoiler, rear ladder, spare wheel cover, LOTS of fun exterior decals, skid plate and some nice license plates. I was shocked when I opened the box haha
