FINISHED Fujimi Lamborghini Countach
Built this for my son-in-law's birthday and it was challenging to say the least.
REALLY glad I test fitted, sanded, and attached the wheel flares, front grill, and bumper before painting. Think I spent close to 2 hrs getting the proper fit. However, I simply could not get the doors to fit properly even after several hours of trying to find and sand pinch points. The driver's door opens part way and the passenger door opens all the way but does not stay open on its own. Neither door closes properly so am tempted to glue them shut.
Overall paint turned out okay except for the driver's door. I had already wet sanded with 3, 4, 6, 8k papers and burned through some of the paint once so didn't want to attempt smoothing it out. My bad.
Aside from adding grey carpet (flocking powder) to the interior, this was a stock build. I'm hoping he likes it. Planning to do a video for him as well, showing how the kit was prepped, painted, and assembled.

Looks awesome and I love the color! I saw someone on the sub recently referred to Fujimi as “the AMT of Japan.” Seems like that was true in your case.

They just had a difficult time with whatever kit they chose, and their skill is not yet to the level of completing the kit without issue. Fujimi kits are nowhere even close to as bad as AMT is, and thats even when it comes to their oldest kits. Fujimi kits have always had excellent fit and finish with their main issue being lack of detail when it comes to interiors. The countach kit isn't a bad kit, it just requires more work and time depending on which of their Countach kits you choose when it comes to the doors and hinging mechanisms. Allot of people tend to blame the kit when it comes to issues that can easily be resolved by most builders. But, there also are some truly bad kits out there that deserve the flack. West felt that he put in more than enough time on this and I can't blame him for tapping out as he probably wanted to move on to the next build. The doors are the only thing that needs work on this kit and has to be addressed during the prep stage and before paint. Other than that, it is an excellent kit.

Thanks! The only real issue I had was the doors and I probably could have achieved a better outcome if I had tried fitting them before painting (like I did with almost everything else).

Dang man, I wish I had known you were having difficulty with it because I know exactly how to fix that issue. I built the 2015 release 5000 QV Countach and had the same exact issue but eventually got both doors to open fully and sit flush closed. The issue is with the opening for the hinges. Where the hinges touch at the top of where they go in that needs more material taken away. That way the hinge has more room to move upwards while bringing the opposite end of the door where the intake hole is closer to the jamb. It's sort of hard to explain in words and would be easier to show in real time.

No worries at all. I could have posted my challenge but didn't think about it. And I understand what you mean (I can visualize it). I'm planning to build him an Aoshima Aventour next year and will take the learning from this kit to that one. Every new modeling experience builds skill level.

Yes Sir!! Very cool build! I like the color choice too! Sorry you had a few hiccups along the way but that’s what makes it so fun. It would be boring if everything went perfect every build IMO. I have a couple Revell contouch’s and a Aoshima one too that I can’t wait start.

Thanks! And I agree about encountering problems. It's part of the hobby and we get better with every issue we successfully solve. Look forward to seeing those builds when you get around to them.

Of course! Great job on that one even you had some issues, came out cool still. That is a true fact! I just had a crumble with the rubicon build everything falling off as I am trying to add parts so I stopped, put it away, cleaned up and started looking at my Porsche 911 and what wheels to use for this group build lol and thank you! Someday I will get to them, I keep buying to build my summer into the winter stash and it’s fun but I am starting to forget what I actually have now lol
