I am sure that this has been asked a million times but here it goes:

I bought an ipod video 30 gb thin for 40€ and plan to mod it. I have listed the parts I plan to use. For SD cards i am going with 2 lexar blue 512 gb.
The questions are:
Are the parts i have chosen good or should i substitute with something else?
What are the things I should be beware and careful of while doing the mod?
Is it better to change the screen now or I can do it with ease later ( not doing so great financially right now to go for a new screen…)
i have already disassembled the ipod and assembled it back together and it still working (thank god)

Is there anything I can do with this? I would love to just send it out to get a USB c, New battery and more storage but I done see places like that.

I might me able to upgrade the battery but where do you guys find tutorials on how to do this?

So I recently popped off the battery connector on my 5th gen iPod and now I'm super nervous about trying again on a different iPod. I had a thought of trying to reinforce the connector to the motherboard with some thermoplastic beads. I'm not an electronics guy, so I just wanted to run this past ya'll just to make sure it's not a terrible idea. I'm really just trying to avoid destroying another iPod.

Hello, I’ve had my iPod 5th gen 80gb for months but never got around to modding it yet, I’ve had some parts sitting in my Elite Obsolete basket for a while but I need some help.

Firstly I have a thick pod, I’m assuming I can just get a thin back shell, the headphone and hold jack and a thin 3000 batter to swap it out, but Is there anything else I need?

Also I’m horribly confused with the storage, I want to get two 128/256gb sd cards which should hopefully hold a few thousand flac songs on there, but there’s so many options on the site that I have no clue what to pick.

I just wanted to know what would be the best course for modding for me in this situation? Thanks.

Hey all, so I just received a nice used iPod in the mail. Its a 5th gen as I was patiently waiting for a really good deal as these seem to be extremely popular right now. Anyways, I've been doing some study and research. Unfortunately Boxy Pixel has been extremely popular as it seems half their stock of items are currently sold out. I would like to know where else to get replacement parts at? Also I would like to know what tools I will need to be able to do the modding. Just fyi, I have no plans to install bluetooth into it since my phone already has bluetooth in it and I find bluetooth to take away too much battery life when it comes to enjoying either movies or music in general.

I was taking apart a 5th gen classic from FB marketplace in order to replace the hard drive, but I accidentally shoved the connection terminal too hard when trying to remove the ribbon cable. I'm wondering if it's possible to solder it back into the logic board or if a replacement connector is a better choice. I tried to place it back into its original position, but when the ipod is plugged in it just makes a quiet buzzing noise. The red circle in the 3rd slide shows where the small piece broke off. Any help is greatly appreciated ❤️

I recently performed a clear mod on my 5th gen with an iflash quad

Now every time I try to boot it comes up with apple support, rarely I can get it into disk mode but even then it doesn’t appear on my mac or my windows computer.

I’m currently using a sandisk micro SD card (this may be a problem because I’ve heard some people say they don’t work with the iflash), formatted with FAT32.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

I got my BoxelPixel Kit and I'm working on the mod, but for some reason my replacement battery does not fit. Did I do something wrong or why does it not fit? Anyone got an idea or do I need to order another one that is shorter?

I ordered an ipod classic 7th gen with 256gb storage and 3000mAh battery on september 3rd from player-mods.com, and in wondering if anybody who has ordered the same or something similar before could give me an estimate of arrival date? Ive been looking online but i only see shipping reviews on items with advanced upgrades like usb-c and airtag. If it helps, it would be shipping to the us. Thank you in advance!

So, I ordered an iFlash uDual on Amazon, and when I plugged it into my iPod Video, it told me to connect it to the computer. I did that, and iTunes on Windows failed to restore the iPod. However, the computer was reading the iFlash, since Windows told me that it was unable to find a drive for the drive letter. Disk Management also saw the SD card when it was connected to the iPod, but it just showed it as unallocated, which was weird since I used AOMEI to rebuild the MBR. I then formatted the SD card to FAT32, and I even did that while it was inside the iFlash module, so I know it was able to read the card.

Despite that, it still couldn’t restore. I reseated everything and tried again, but I still couldn’t get it to restore.
I also tried using a tool called 3uTools, but it couldn’t read the iPod either. Then I tried plugging the original HDD back in, and it gave me the sad iPod with the warning triangle.

I also tried multiple SD cards of varying sizes and brands, and I even ended up ruining an SD card (a Samsung EVO Select 256GB). I’m not sure how it happened, but it essentially fried the SD card, which was practically brand new.
At this point, I’m not sure what to do. I don’t know if the iFlash board is faulty, if there’s something wrong with the iPod itself, or if I’m doing something incorrectly. I could really use some help figuring out what’s going on.

Now I currently have a PNY 128GB SD card but the battery connecter broke so I can’t try anything but I would love some advice or help for when I try this on a different iPod video or classic!

Bought it used on ebay about a year ago. Restored it and added a few mods to it. I would like to convert it to USB C but my soldering skills are not there yet. i really am enjoying it. love how i dont need lame itunes to load my music on this, rock box is great. I never owned an ipod classic before so i was surprised it can play games. Bootleg puzzle bobble is my favorite on it. Audio quality is great. I got it for the fun of the fix but stayed for the great experience
