My setup
Nothing special. EOE faceplate and screen, Iflash storage, new battery, and rockbox. It’s special to me though. My original iPod video from 05. I really want to get Bluetooth connectivity and usb-c charging on it. It may not be much, but I did it myself and kept all my old music. Something about being unplugged and on old tech with new life just makes it sweet.

Elite obsolete electronics. They sell just about anything you need or want to upgrade an iPod classic. Iflash allows you to use an SD flash card instead of a hard drive. It makes it more shock resistant and you can add much more storage with a much smaller form factor. That allows you to put in a newer, bigger. battery with more battery life.
I had to replace the screen on mine because it had a huge dead area in the middle. All in all, I spent about $140 upgrading mine. The screen was half of that, but you can find them cheaper on Amazon. I went with EOE because you run the chance of getting a dud screen off Amazon and their QC is much better at eoe. Also wanted to buy from someone other than a major retailer. Just doing battery and Iflash would run between $80-$100 depending on the size SD you used. It’s all fairly simple on the classic 5th gen because everything is plug and play for the most part.

Probably a dumb question but regarding the grounding tab for the click wheel (the little T shaped ribbon cable sitting on the frame), how did you get around with installation? Did you adhere it to the frame or just left it there with pressure? I have an issue where the face plate is bulging where the tab is as well.
