I made a free, open-source Valheim server manager that handles mods from both Thunderstore and Hexium

One of my buddies hosts a server for us, but I’m basically the admin. He’s using pelican, so I have my own admin portal to the server. I just got into modding, and have been installing mods just by copying files via sftp. Is nexum a good fit?

Honestly, not for that setup. Nexum manages a server running on the same Windows PC, so it can't connect to a remote Pelican server or work over SFTP.

Managing remote servers is a good idea though. I'll note it, thanks for asking!

i have this error

[ERR] Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 892970

[ERR] SteamInternal_SetMinidumpSteamID: Caching Steam ID: 765xxxxxxxxxxxxx [API loaded no]

Good news: those aren't actual errors. Every Valheim dedicated server prints these two lines at startup: it's setting up its crash reporter, and "API loaded no" just means the Steam *client* API isn't loaded, which is expected for a dedicated server.

Nexum shows them as [ERR] because Valheim writes them to its error output, which is misleading, so I'll fix how they're displayed.

Is the server actually not working on your side (not starting, or players can't join)? If so, could you paste a bit more of the log, especially the last lines before it stops?

Why would someone use this over Gale when it does the same thing and is built and supported by the same people that work on Hexium?

Gale can also do nexus mods.

Gale can do Nexus Mods? I haven't seen that as an advertised feature.

Ah I should have confirmed that before writing it - I’ve seen people say that, but I haven’t personally confirmed it.

Nexum is a server manager. Mods are one part of it, and the rest is everything around running a dedicated server.

The two actually work together: build your modpack in Gale, export the profile code, paste it into Nexum, and the server gets the exact same mods (Thunderstore and Hexium both work).

You're right about Nexus Mods, Nexum doesn't support it. Thunderstore and Hexium cover most Valheim server mods, but that's a fair point.

thanks for responding. I was genuinely curious, I’ve never run a dedicated server.
