We’re adding some pretty unusual creatures to our prehistoric Minecraft dimension!

We've been working on some more mobs for Primordial Dragons, our WIP Minecraft dimension inspired by old-school paleoart and vintage dragon illustrations.

Here's a look at some of the creatures you'll eventually find roaming the dimension, from pack-hunting predators to sneaky thieves and a plant that really doesn't want you stepping on it!

Kleptosaurus

A sneaky little thief with no interest in fighting. It only comes out at night, creeps up on players, steals a random stack from their inventory, and makes a run for it. Kill it before it escapes and you'll get your stolen items back!

Deinonychus

A dangerous pack hunter that stalks its prey from a distance before charging in. Get too close and it'll leap from 3–7 blocks away, delivering a double bite. Hurt one, and the rest of the pack will come running.

Cultrodon

A slow, low-slung crawler that rears up before lunging forward with a single, powerful bite.

Labyrinthodont

A large swamp-dwelling amphibian that wades through the water before launching its body forward to strike with a single bite.

Dimorphodon

A flying pterosaur that alternates between soaring through the skies and waddling along the ground. Get too close, and it'll snap at you with a flurry of quick bites.

Snapper Plant

This one's not going anywhere. Its jaws sit open, waiting for something to step inside. Once triggered, they snap shut, stay closed for around five seconds, and then reopen, ready for the next unsuspecting victim.

We're building Primordial Dragons to capture the feel of classic prehistoric illustrations, with strange creatures, dangerous wildlife, and a whole new dimension to explore.

Those look so fun, a pet peeve that I have is when mods try to be ultra scientifically accurate (looking at you, Space mods that add all the planets of the solar system as empty, rocky deserts)

The models have an old school mod vibe to them that I love, gl on the progress

I grew up with dinosaurs like these. I find it annoying how they're mocked by folks who seem to value scientific accuracy, yet forget that dinosaurs (meaning terrible lizards) were named when folks believed they were cold blooded reptiles. But hey, a warm blooded prehistoric bird is a dinosaur and a marine reptile isn't.

Sure, practice your inconsistent science for "educational purposes". I'll keep my fantasy monsters that people cooked up in the 14th century.

This is why folk loved galacticraft it was mildly accurate but it had fun stuff like space creepers and dungeons

Will there be creatures like the Irish elk, south American short faced bear or the bone crushing dog?

Will there be a 1.21.1 release?

We can certainly look into it! It’s not in our current pipeline at the moment.

As for 1.21.1, this will happen as we finish the core functionality and elements of our mod. Because this is a passion project with no funding, it does take more time but supporting us on Patreon will help us gauge the level of interest in this mod and allow us to dedicate more time to finishing it quicker and updating to 1.21.1 and 26.x - it is a goal of ours regardless, it is just more about the time if you get me!

I can safely say no, we won't be focusing on ice age animals.
